My Self-Summary

I tried this once before, and then I started dating someone and got rid of it. Well, now I'm not dating anyone, and I want to meet someone else.

I think I'm pretty easy to get along with, but if I'm honest maybe that only applies to people I like. Let's say, once we get to be friends, you can trust me a lot farther than you can throw me.

I work for a living, always have. I ride my bike to work because I hate to waste money, and I like a little forced workout to keep me on my toes.

When I say I have varried interests, I'm not just saying that to sound more exciting. It might make me less exciting. Some people really hate dilettantism. But I will say this: I'll go to the movies, watch a movie at home, play sports, go to a concert (pop or classical), go to a bar (dive or posh), camp, cook, read, talk about reading, do any damn thing I feel like doing and love every second of it. The best thing is doing any of this with someone I really like.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm still in college, and pathetically old for it. Well, at least too old to be working on my bachelor's degree. All this really means is that I'll have a better idea of what I'm doing with my life than so-and-so did when they graduated at 21. Or this is what I'm telling myself.

In the meantime, I work way too hard at a job that many fairly inexpensive machines have done before me. And with less complaining, undoubtedly.

When I can, I go to the tiki bar and pretend I'm in the tropics.

I’m really good at

Getting my hands dirty. I'll do all the stuff you don't want to do, or help you with stuff you normally find yourself doing alone.

The first things people usually notice about me

People usually think I'm crabby, so I guess the first thing they notice about me is my surly demeanor. I'm not actually crabby though, so these people end up being wrong. I'm not sure what it is. I have a tendency to wrinkle my eyebrows, and I understand this is generally a sign of disapproval.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I like pale ales and porters. Also drinks with umbrellas and fruit skewers.
My all-time favorite book is Notes from Underground, but it's pretty much in rotation at the top with Les Miserables, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Well of Loneliness, The Jungle Book, The Diary of Anais Nin, and The Satanic Verses. I have an 11 year old boy fixation on 19th and 20th century adventure novels. It's what I read instead of Oprah's summer reading list.
I like poetry, but I hate(!) bad poetry. I would probably laugh, or vomit, right in your teenagers face if I weren't so nice. Just kidding. I have more in common with your teenager than I care to admit.

I like movies that make me laugh regardless of whether they are comedies. The 'burbs and the Cable Guy are both underrated for what they are, and I will stand by that. My favorite movie is 8 1/2, and I promise that I would wear that little hat if I were a man. I'm pretty open when it comes to movies. The time commitment is small enough either way.

The six things I could never do without

my bike, internet close at hand, manly shoes, imminent travel, really big personal bubble, that oil you burn with tea lights to make the air smell nice.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

why people do what they do, where i feel like going, what breed of dog is ideal for me and my lifestyle

On a typical Friday night I am

Probably at work, then acting like I'm fun and will do something "out". I mostly watch movies that come to me through the mail.

If people are up for it, maybe I'm at a bar for a couple of drinks. Usually I'll do just about anything, but I like for everyone to be happy. If they're not, I'll do something fun alone-less complaining that way.

You should message me if

If you want to go on a date or something for crying out loud already. Seriously, it's rough out there, and I actually am here to meet more people. I think. I have fairly low expectations for this arrangement, but it still manages to be kind of a letdown.
