My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Thinker, traveler, reader, writer, maker, baker, lover, mathematician, happy mutant.

I am polyamorous.

Many people aren't familiar with the word, but I mean that I think it's possible and desirable to enjoy more than one romantic, sexual relationship at the same time, with the full knowledge and consent of everybody involved.

I don't get jealous. I encourage the women in my life to follow their hearts and their lusts wherever those may lead, secure in the knowledge that I am a man and a lover worth coming back to.

I would hope that you'd do the same for me. Certainly you should not expect that I will agree to sexual or emotional exclusivity.

If you have read this far, congratulations! My polyamory is very important to me, and I often find it an awkward thing to work into first-date banter. The top of the profile seemed like a good place to lay it all out, but I wonder if it doesn't make for a blunt introduction.

I'm a pretty jolly fellow, happy to be alive and faced with worlds and worlds to explore. The whole wide Earth awaits my feet, and the worlds of mathematics, literature, film, and food entice my mind when my feet get tired.

I like puns and beer and the ache in my legs from climbing a mountain trail. I like to feel the pages of a book between my fingers and I like to spend all weekend in bed with a lover, just sheets and skin and sweat and the luxuriant power to give each other pleasure. I like goofy exercise programs and I like to laugh.

I am confident but vulnerable, and when I meet you I might be a little nervous and overplay the cocky side. Give me a chance to relax, and you'll see the whole me.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Enjoying it. That's what it's for.

I'm at Western, blasting through my math major and the accelerated master's degree (I like math. A lot.). After that, who knows?

I hike a lot and travel when I can, anywhere and everywhere. I spent the fall in Budapest, and I'm on the lookout for my next adventure.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Everything I put my mind to, except putting my mind to things.

Math, cooking, wandering, getting lost, getting found, philosophy, fun, puns, listening, video games, sex (no, really. I'm very good).
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm tall. Really tall.

Also broad of shoulder and square of jaw, but I think it's the height that grabs people's attention. One of the OKtrends posts claims that most men on this site exaggerate their heights by 2 inches. I don't; I've got no reason to.

Then I open my mouth, and people notice that I'm a total geek. I make no apologies.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Lots of science fiction and fantasy. Robert Heinlein, Cory Doctorow, Isaac Asimov, Charles Stross, Neal Stephenson, Frank Herbert, and such. I'm pickier about my fantasy. Lev Grossman's The Magicians is my current favorite: it's what Harry Potter should have been.

I idolize Mark Twain. I also like Kate Chopin, Ernest Hemingway, Ayn Rand (don't judge me), and George Orwell.

Polyamory books: The Ethical Slut, Sex at Dawn, Marriage and Morals (by Bertrand Russell). Stranger in a Strange Land, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, and Courtship Rites.

Ready Player One is AMAZING. Eccentric ultra-billionaire video game creator dies and bequeathes his entire fortune to whomever finds an easter egg in his game. It's chock-full of geek culture references, a total nerdgasm.

Right now I am reading Drawing Down the Moon by Margot Adler.

Anything with Arnold Schwarzenegger, especially the first Conan. The Addams Family, The Royal Tenenbaums, Ghostbusters, Trading Places, Vicky Christina Barcelona, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Risky Business, Forbidden Planet, Water For Elephants, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Even-numbered Star Trek movies. The original Star Wars trilogy.

Mostly classical music, 70's metal, or pre-war blues and jazz, depending on my mood. Van Halen, AC/DC, Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones; Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, JS Bach, Richard Strauss, Bruckner, Vivaldi. A lot of Flamenco, recently, too.

Food (!):
I love food. Grease and salt and fresh local veggies. Ethnic food, from Argentinian to Zimbabwean, and classic "American" stuff like meatloaf or funnel cakes. I love craft beer and red wine and small batch bourbon and dry gin martinis.

I do not eat mushrooms. Other than that, it's all good.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Occasional solitude
Tasty, tasty food
Stimulating conversation
Grand hopes and dreams
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to answer this question. It's been blank for most of my time here on OkCupid.

I think about everything, all the time. Books and math and women and social justice and world domination and flowers and non-capitalist economics and Greek philosophy and what to have for lunch.

Mostly math and women, though, I guess.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
What's typical? Maybe I'm studying, playing video games, drinking with friends, reading, stargazing, or sleeping with you ;)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am hairy like Sean Connery.

And I play D&D.
