I am goofy, curious, and loyal.

My Self-Summary

I'm a pretty easy-going guy. I don't need to be the center of attention, so if you want to be with someone like that, you and I probably won't work. I think things like honesty and friendship are worth sacrificing for. I'm open for just about any crazy adventure that doesn't seem likely to get me fired, but if we don't have any adventures at the moment, I enjoy just hanging out with my friends. Music is important; I like to listen to it; I sing really loud all the time in the car and occasionally in the shower. I really, really like staying up late -- there's definitely a point you cross at night when everything is amazing.

What I’m doing with my life

I work in education technology -- I help teachers and schools accomplish things with computers. I like my work, and I really like that I'm not trying to sell something to anyone, so I work hard...and then leave it in the office.

My hobbies come on strong, then I burnout, then I find that happy medium and tend to keep them. I think that's how everyone is, though? I read, I teach myself to strum the guitar so I can sing along, I do a couple chin-ups, I watch House, I play Rock Band at my friends' apartment, I buy things and then picture myself living in a minimalist loft and try to convince myself to get rid of the things I bought.

I’m really good at

Besides being obnoxiously levelheaded when life gives people lemons, I am an information sponge. Literally. Not literally. Almost literally. I'm good at finding people who know what they're talking about, and I've got a pretty good BS detector for when they don't.

The first things people usually notice about me

I smile at everyone and enjoy catching people off guard by saying howdy.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Last book I read was "Unbearable Lightness of Being", which I thought was amazing and will probably read again soon. Usually when I read, I read clever novels about people who work in offices downtown in big cities. Living vicariously? Maybe.

Movies? Pretty much anything. I just watched Brothers Gloom and liked it. I tend to like indie/arthouse movies like Science of Sleep, Lost in Translation, Wes Anderson stuff, etc. Really, I'll see just about anything, and probably like it.

Music? I listen to most kinds of rock, from indie to alternative (wait, are those the same thing yet?) I went to Austin City Limits in 2008 and 2009, and I'm watching for ticket sales to open up for 2010. I listen to Pandora at work. I sing LOUD in the car to whichever station is playing a song I know the words to. I grew up listening to oldies with my parents. Late-90's/early-00's rock/pop-rock is clearly the best genre ever and no it is not open for discussion but yes I will share the radio.

Food? I eat all food: American, Thai, Indian, Tex-Mex, Chicago Dogs, Italian, etc etc. Delicia's in Irving is easily my favorite restaurant. I tend to eat healthy at work and by myself, and then I eat whatever I want when I'm out with friends.

The six things I could never do without

1) my friends
2) Good music to listen to
3) My cellphone
4) some way to express myself -- pad of paper, guitar, etc.
5) staying up too late
6) A coffeeshop to escape to

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Everything. I'm a thinker. I think a lot about why the world is the way it is and why people do the things they do. I think that education is the best way to have the biggest impact on the world. I think about whether I really like the TV shows I watch or if I just watch them because it's habit and it's a connection I have with my TV-addict (in a good way!) friends.

On a typical Friday night I am

It varies. Most of the time, I'm not a bar-hopping party animal, but I go to my share of movies and concerts. Most of my close friends are married couples and they all just bought houses. It's great to kick back and hang out with them at the end of the week, play Rock Band, get some dinner, but the trade-off is that you don't tend to meet a lot of new people in your friends' living rooms. (So here I am at an online dating site...)

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm pretty much always humming or singing under my breath. If you sneak up on me while I'm walking, you'll probably hear it. Maybe that means it's not very private. C'est la vie.

You should message me if

...you want to! If you suspect you may have a fun dorky side, if you like trying new things, if you generally have a positive attitude, if sometimes you like just hanging out talking, you should message me, I'd love to buy you a cup of coffee and see if we click. If you want someone to go clubbing with every week, if you're too cool for Rock Band, if you haven't read a book since high school...I'm sure you'll make someone else very happy.
