I am intelligent, curious, and creatively inclined.

My Self-Summary

I'm the kind of guy who wants to do a lot. I'm a student of psychology, with a [backup] plan to be a therapist in the future. I've been known to use my free time to look into a wide variety of subjects, such as Buddhism, pop psych, ettiqute, etc. I even spent a little time looking into private investigation as a profession. My bookshelf is a testament to everything I've chosen to dabble in for the past five years, although its also somewhat dominated by copious amounts of fiction.
I'm also something of a serious music fan, but not in the way that many people are music fans. I fall firmly (and proudly) between the casual listeners that name the last three singers they heard on fad radio as their favorite "artists," and the music appreciation professor types who go to great lengths to surgically remove the enjoyment of music. And I don't discriminate. Publishers could take the collection of names from my playlist, print it out a few thousand times, and sell the result to indecisive pregnant mothers.
So when I'm not studying a subject I'll never put into practice (but hey, a man can dream of being an exceedingly polite and well dressed private detective/mountaneer who speaks Sanskrit and sells still-life drawings of eating utensils), I follow in the footsteps of the great contributors to the literary community. Yeah, a man with this much to say happens to be an aspiring writer; isn't the world a twisted little place sometimes?
Besides all that, I would rather have down time. Some time to relax, because I'm very laid back at heart. Its a good way to keep sane, you know? And I'm not necessarily an all indoors kind of person, either. I love to get out and explore. Biking was a favorite pastime of mine, until I rode the poor thing into an early grave.

In the words of the mighty Anthony Bourdain, "I write, I travel, I eat, and I'm hungry for more."

What I’m doing with my life

I'm preparing. There's learning going on with me all the time. I'm the kinda guy who opens a dictionary when he hears a word he doesn't know. If I hear about something I'd like to know more about, I make a note to look it up later. I make it a point to hear music I'm unfamiliar with, because I'm constantly nourishing my playlist with more and more. I've chosen psychology as a college major, and maybe I'll find a career in that, but what I'd much rather do is make a living as a novelist. This means I write. I write as often as a feel able. I read and listen to narratives that I think are worth exploring from a variety of styles.
While all of this is going on, I have a job at a bookstore, which happens to be a rather convenient place to work given my choice of interests and intended career.

I’m really good at

Put a pencil in my hand, a pad of drawing paper on a table, and lock me in a room for a few days. When you get back, you'll probably find pretty accurate depictions of whatever can been seen from said locked room. I don't plan on being a professional artist someday, I just use my talent for fun and occasional profit. Its a good feeling when someone comes up to you and says, "Hey, I've seen some of your drawings. I'll give ya twenty bucks if you draw ______ for me." Whats not a good feeling is then feeling like you HAVE to sit down and draw _______ for them within whatever time frame works for them.

I also seem to have a knack for making, being, and having friends. What can I say? I guess I'm a good guy. My closest friends, I've known for roughly seven years. For those of you who like math, in which instance I'm wondering why you're looking into me in the first place (I'm a type B person, in case you hadn't realized yet. But hey, if you've read this much anyway, no reason to feel shooed off. Math people are great too.), you'll probably realize that seven years is a third of my life so far. That's right, I've been hanging out with the same bunch of jokesters for a considerable percentage of my life. And just in case you think that sounds boring, I assure you, not with these guys. Have you ever laughed so hard you choked, cramped up, and fell to the ground in a drooling lump of twitching flesh once recognizable as a person? That's what we call an occupational hazard of being a full time confidante with these guys. So I suppose the fact is, I just know how to chose them, and if they've decided to hang around me this long too, then I must be on to something, right?

I'm kinda good at writing too. (insert ironic chuckle)

The first things people usually notice about me
