My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I love to read books, play with computers, walk outside, and always see new places (If I can go somewhere one way and come back a different way I prefer that). I enjoy hiking, backpacking, skiing (especially cross country skiing, and I am starting to learn telemark skiing), and canoeing. I like biking, public transportation, and learning about bureaucratic issues. My favorite season is winter and I love the rain.

I believe strongly in gender equity, so I am a feminist. My gender doesn't actually mean much to me though, like the color of my car I didn't choose but I'm happy enough with most of the time. Sometimes I get caught in a prejudice, so I try to learn about people as individuals. Androgyny is cool.

J'aime aller randonnée. Nous y allons!
I am patient, curious, and adventurous.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a network engineer at a smallish internet company in San Mateo working on improving online video quality. The blinky lights are very exciting.

Since moving to the Bay Area, I've spent most of my free time going caving and I've had lots of awesome underground adventures. In October 2011, I visited some really awesome caves in Alabama and Georgia and I'm really looking forward to when I can go back. I'm also starting to learn about canyoneering, and Mandarin.

I just got a canoe and I plan to do more paddling in the Bay Area and beyond. I have a canal right behind my apartment, where I eventually plan to circumnavigate Foster City and explore upstream in Borel Creek as far as I can go. I want to find which other urban waterways are navigable in the Bay Area (mostly following http://museumca.org/creeks/ ). I also want to try some easy whitewater and do some longish trips.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Riding bikes without using my hands. Reading comic books while riding a bike. Tying knots. Getting strange computers to talk to each other.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't talk very much around people I don't know very well or trust. I have long blond hair.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Some of my favorite books are Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, Vision of the Future by Timothy Zahn, the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Reading the River: A Voyage Down the Yukon by John Hildebrand, The Cuckoo's Egg by Cliff Stoll, Stormlight by Ed Greenwood, and The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin. When I read The Night Bookmobile I was completely blown away how much I related to it. Right now I'm reading Rocannon's World.

Rocky Horror Picture Show, Clerks, Children of Men, and UHF are some of my favorite movies. I like some anime and jdrama like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Love Hina, and Gokusen. My favorite music is by Yusuf Islam, Kate Wolf, Vienna Teng, John Denver, Nanci Griffith, Waylon Jennings, Kate Rusby, and Stan Rogers.

I love to try weird new foods because when I don't know whats really good more things seem better to me. A strawberry milkshake can be better than sex. Texture is very important to me. I love to eat pretty much anything, such as enchiladas, ramen, lasagna, spinach, and a tea egg. I like most forms of rice, but not rice pudding, and chocolate but not vanilla pudding. I like tea with tapioca but not tapioca pudding. I really like those pieces of carrot cake wrapped up in plastic at gas stations. My boss says I am the least picky eater he has ever met.

J'adore un milk-shake aux fraises.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I could never do without my rain jacket, food, water, eyes, and feet. A computer is pretty nice too but I could do without one.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My environment indoors and outdoors, caves, productivity, sensuality. Making cute little penguins appear on my computer screen when it starts. Trying to go to Antarctica or Canada. In my imagination, Canada is a romantic land of adventure and I'd like to explore it more. I climbed Mt Shasta last summer and I'd like to climb some peaks in the southern Sierra. Some day I would also like to hike the Tahoe Yosemite Trail in one trip. I enjoy learning the names of places as I travel, and generally finding out what is around the corner.
Je ferais la randonnée.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
At home. I might read or play an adventure game, driving somewhere for a weekend of camping and caving, or I might be baking and washing dishes. I'm often at work, because if I don't do the work nobody else will. I hate the time is money attitude, so I will work as long as I feel like.

Je suis à foyer.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
J'ai un très joli ours en peluche avec lapin costumé. I have read a lot of Star Wars fan fiction, and having a neatly made bed is quite important to me.

If you want to drive to Mount Shasta or Sky Harbor or go canoeing. Or if you have cute penguins in your computer or you have long hair. If you believe in love, or that the truest paths always lead through mountains (Kate Wolf).

Tu feras la randonnée.
