My self-summary
I have lived in Madison for most of my life, but I've also lived in New England/East Coast and in the Southwest. Every time I've moved away, I've realized that Wisconsin is in my bones and I need to come back home. Of course, I am also a big fan of the Packers and Badgers.

I have worked in education and politics and have to say that I prefer politics. I'm actually fairly earnest about various political topics and am inclined to get involved with movements or issues that are important to me. In general, I like to feel like I am affecting positive change.

I can appreciate both "high" and "low" culture. I love art museums and dive bars and places in between.

My schedule can be pretty intense. I have a goofy little daughter who is pretty much the coolest, and she takes much of my time. I play Roller Derby, which also requires a lot of practice in order to both be safe on skates and to dominate on the track (heh). For the record, derby is the best sport I've ever played.

I am an unabashed Star Wars Nerd.
What I’m doing with my life
Mostly, I'm trying to make sure my kiddo grows up to be a well adjusted person. Other than that, I'm enjoying little things in life. I'm lucky to be in a field, professionally, that I like. I am happy to have found a sport that I like and encourages me to push myself physically.
The first things people usually notice about me
Yikes. I have no idea. I guess you'll have to tell me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Love in the Time of Cholera, The Monster at the End of This Book, anything by Sherman Alexie. I just started reading The Round House by Louise Erdrich
Movies: Star Wars Original Trilogy, Godfather, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Clueless, Best In Show, North by Northwest
TV: Daily Show, Colbert, Its Always Sunny, Downton Abbey, Futurama, Arrested Development, Science Channel and Bravo programming
Music: Hip Hop, Funk, Disco, Talking Heads, Radiohead, Outkast, Jay-Z
Food: I'll try most anything. The only things I don't really like are cilantro, olives and horseradish.

**I'll add more when I think about it a little more in depth**
The six things I could never do without
1. My kid (and rest of my family. Is it cheating to add this here?)
2. Friends
3. Phone
4. Computer
5. My skates
6. Blankets (I love them, even if I'm not cold)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The Voynich Manuscript. And how I managed to become a Chris Kluwe fan.
On a typical Friday night I am
I suppose I don't have a typical Friday night. Some nights I spend with my kid, playing games/watching movies and calling it a night early. When she isn't with me, I like being social and seeing friends around town. Very descriptive, I know.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I get nervous, I can't stop talking.
