In my personal time I try to vary it up -- bike riding, painting, lots of board games. You name it I play it: Catan, Dominion, Pandemic. My favorite game is Illuminati because of the ridiculous things that happen: "The boy scouts, working through the multinational oil companies, are going to destroy New York City."
Books: to paraphrase "If it has two covers, I'm reading it", but on the fiction front my favorite book of all time is probably "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson. Some others are the first books of the Anita Blake series, "The Historian", and "The Great Blue No Where".
Movies: Adaptation, Equilibrium, Stardust, Ironman, V for Vendetta, Interview with a Vampire, Disney's 90s animation (Aladdin, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, etc.)
TV: House, Castle, Firefly, Slayers, Ranma 1/2, Full Metal Alchemist, Evangelion, the various Law and Orders.
Food: Homemade Pizza, Barbecue (of all varieties), Over-complicated salads, Queso, Fajitas.
Trade is a good example: if I have 100 apples and you have 100 oranges we're likely to not value that last apple and orange very much, so we'll probably both want to trade and get some variety in our diets!

As for the type of person I'd like to talk to, how about: "You don't need a knight in shining armor, but you would enjoy having one around anyway." Or really just be a curious, fun, and together three dimensional human being.
