Let's start with food. I have varied taste, but more than anything
will always notice if a restaurant's service is subpar. A nice
lechon asado (roast pork) as well as a good medium rare steak are
good, but also am a fan of a good veggie burger. And I can
basically eat Thai food everyday. Oh and I don't do chains unless
you count Five Guys. Tour of Italy at the Olive Garden? Ah no. And
yes, I do Yelp reviews on occasion and essentially do not set foot
in a place unless the ratings work for me. This is also dependent
on: 1) how hungry I am 2) what time it is 3) where I am [New
Yorkers are really tough with reviews - and I dig that about you
NY] 4) If I have a discount. And I will not use a discount on the
first date...kinda tacky, right?
Music - varied collection - Jamiroquai to the Eagles to Kanye to
Marc Anthony to Si Se to Broadway to ATCQ to Motown. I like
reviewing any artists I can find online or through my friends, but
I'm not cool enough to know them by name. Suffice to say - I listen
to everything except for top 40 stuff. Because that is just in a
word - caca.
Books - Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, Beloved, Great Gatsby,
Infinite Plan, Good to Great, The Namesake, Thousand Splendid Suns,
Outliers...just read Les Miz...really good, but you have to be
somewhat patient. I usually give books 60 pages and if it hasn't
caught me by then - no dice.
Movies - Braveheart, Fight Club, All the new Batman movies
particularly Dark Knight and tons of others...and still the best
romantic comedy of all time: When Harry Met Sally (it still holds
up...except the outfits and the hair and the fact that they look up
numbers in rolodexes...um, starting to not hold up)
