My self-summary
Well, I am divorced (no worries - I'm good) and defined in other ways as a Fordham and NYU alum going to school at night for seven years completing both degrees. Born in Queens, NY and grew up in "South" Jersey (Mercer County is in the middle of the state) but summered in Queens. (FYI - the Hamptons got nothing on stickball behind PS 69...and that was the actual name of the school.) And I write in parentheticals...a lot.

I'm second generation - parents are from Cuba and Puerto Rico, but I was raised more on my Cuban side - what does that mean? I know good lechon and ropa vieja...and don't get me started on Latin Fusion places.

I'm a great listener and overshare (read: limited filter) because 1) I am honest to a fault, which gets me into trouble 2) I believe that true human connections are made through vulnerability - putting yourself out there allows others to do the same engendering real conversations.

I also am over-analytical - think way too much. Oh and I have an aversion for dishonesty...you ask me a question there is a 99.9% chance I will tell you the truth (.1% - I have to be somewhat mysterious).
What I’m doing with my life
Right now real estate - after working in schools and non-profits for years. I do some contract work with non-profits and schools as well.
I’m really good at
- referencing movies and music randomly during conversations
- starting conversations with strangers
- facing my fears
- making omelets
- massages
- dancing to hip hop or something with a beat
- karaoke
- running long distances
- falling out of yoga poses
- not getting hangovers
- walking on the outside of the street (only some will get this)
- telling you the unadulterated truth
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably more of the third or fourth thing - I am more straightforward than most any guy you will meet here and for that matter anywhere.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Let's start with food. I have varied taste, but more than anything will always notice if a restaurant's service is subpar. A nice lechon asado (roast pork) as well as a good medium rare steak are good, but also am a fan of a good veggie burger. And I can basically eat Thai food everyday. Oh and I don't do chains unless you count Five Guys. Tour of Italy at the Olive Garden? Ah no. And yes, I do Yelp reviews on occasion and essentially do not set foot in a place unless the ratings work for me. This is also dependent on: 1) how hungry I am 2) what time it is 3) where I am [New Yorkers are really tough with reviews - and I dig that about you NY] 4) If I have a discount. And I will not use a discount on the first date...kinda tacky, right?

Music - varied collection - Jamiroquai to the Eagles to Kanye to Marc Anthony to Si Se to Broadway to ATCQ to Motown. I like reviewing any artists I can find online or through my friends, but I'm not cool enough to know them by name. Suffice to say - I listen to everything except for top 40 stuff. Because that is just in a word - caca.

Books - Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, Beloved, Great Gatsby, Infinite Plan, Good to Great, The Namesake, Thousand Splendid Suns, Outliers...just read Les Miz...really good, but you have to be somewhat patient. I usually give books 60 pages and if it hasn't caught me by then - no dice.

Movies - Braveheart, Fight Club, All the new Batman movies particularly Dark Knight and tons of others...and still the best romantic comedy of all time: When Harry Met Sally (it still holds up...except the outfits and the hair and the fact that they look up numbers in rolodexes...um, starting to not hold up)
The six things I could never do without
a sense of purpose
laughter
creativity
internet searches that ensure my spelling is correct
restaurants with quality food AND service
human interaction
I spend a lot of time thinking about
my professional life...always getting better...never being satisfied...the path to happiness and apparently ellipses

The "let's meet" part of OKC. Why can't I just send a message? Seems lazy and unoriginal for a guy to just send one of those. And I really don't spend a lot of time thinking about this.
On a typical Friday night I am
hopefully at a restaurant with great food, service and of course dynamic company.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm Cuban and Puerto Rican and I can't dance salsa. FAIL :(
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 25–35
  • Near me
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
- you like to randomly quote movie, music and various pop culture references or can tolerate it...because it is going to happen, like really
- you like to travel or learn about new cultures
- you can take a joke - no overly sensitive types...I can dish as well as I can take...which leads to...
- you are witty - need someone sharp...c'mon baby - keep up
- you are independent - self confidence is sexy...but don't over do it (arrogance is not sexy)
- you are a life long learner - always looking to be better
- you think Applebee's and any restaurant with the day of the week in its name is crap
- you don't communicate by acronyms - if you just type OMG or LOL in every other word this will not work...really - it hurts my heart

Finally, if you can show me how to turn off my brain and just chill...then you are Ms. Right Now. For realz.
