My self-summary
I went to school for Political Science in Chicago and now I'm back in the Twin Cities. I like to hangout with friends at coffee shops, at shows, or wherever there's something fun and cool happening.

I like being busy and, as a result, frequently take on more than I can handle. If I think something should be happening, that isn't happening, I want to make it happen. That mindset caused me to back-burner relationships for far too long. I decided it was time to change that when my friends started buying houses and getting married. Not saying I want to buy a house or get married, myself, but a relationship would be great.

I'm generally up for anything. I like to try new things and meet new people. I love going out to see bands play, checking out art openings and hearing interesting people speak. I like hanging out in coffee shops reading a book or looking at the internet. ...and long walks on the beach–I'm supposed to put that in somewhere, right?
What I’m doing with my life
I'm in school to become a high/middle school social studies teacher. I play in a band called Hevy Syrup and I'm politically active.

(I acknowledge that Hevy Syrup makes us sound like a jam band–that is not the case. We play the punk rock.)
I’m really good at
Being optimistic, teaching, being busy, causing trouble, making coffee
The first things people usually notice about me
My sense of humor, I think. I'm told that I have nice eyes. They're green, but there's some yellow in there too.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read a lot of different stuff. I like reading about politics and theory, but I also like other stuff.

TV: 30 Rock, Modern Family, Parks and Rec., Battlestar Galactica, Spaced, Dr. Who, Arrested Development, The Wire, No Reservations

Favorite movies is pretty hard. This is in no means a comprehensive list: Coen Brothers, Bladerunner, Star Wars, the new Star Trek, Harlan County USA, Pan's Labyrinth, The Wind that Shakes the Barley, The Breakfast Club, District 9

Music: (to scratch the surface...) Lifter Puller, The Clash, Friends Like These, The Coup, Low, Retribution Gospel Choir, Neutral Milk Hotel, Rilo Kiley, Mountain Goats, P.O.S., Communist Daughter, Magnetic Fields, Nick Cave, etc.

I eat and drink in the following places: Spyhouse, Bad Waitress, 331 Club, Turf Club, Nina's, Jasmine Deli, CC Club, Bulldog, Sweeney's, Happy Gnome, Cahoots, Shish.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of time thinking about politics and music. Politically, I'm a socialist. Musically, I like to listen to and make music.
On a typical Friday night I am
Calling people to find out where everyone's going to be that night, even if we're just watching a movie at someone's apartment.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I really hate bugs. Like, really really hate them.
