My self-summary
it seems like i've rewritten this bit a few times already, and still every time i read it i don't think it's a good indicator of what i'm really like. i think the truth of the matter is that it's really impossible to get to know someone from reading a short blurb about them online. so i'm just going to stick with the basics. i live in New York with my fiance and several cats-O-doom. i love nature. i'm really into horticulture and gardens and that sort of thing. i like to walk around a lot. i'm a vegetarian, and have been so for nearly 15 years. i'm very easy-going. i'm not too keen on appearances, that is to say i don't follow anyone else's beauty-ideal. i don't keep up with fashion, and i don't normally wear any makeup. it makes me feel fake, quite frankly. i like people, and once i warm up to someone i can be quite friendly. until then i'm rather quiet and shy. i love food. i like to cook, and i have an adventurous palate. if you want to reap the rewards of my love of cooking, you should, too. :) and...that's all i can think of right now.

I am creative, quiet, and open-minded
What I’m doing with my life
I'm still in a bit of a transitional state. I moved to Queens from New Jersey about a year ago and have not found my dream job yet. I'm working, but still looking for something better, and still wondering if I should go back to school or not. *eh* I'll get it together soon, hopefully.
I’m really good at
forgetting things, losing things, and procrastinating.
The first things people usually notice about me
the most common first sentence to come out of someone's mouth when addressing me for the first time is "you're really quiet." i'm shy! so sue me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOKS: anything by richard bach, par lagerkvist, herman hesse, geek love by katherine dunn. i don't read as much as i used to, which is a shame. MOVIES: many foreign, independent films, documentaries, dramas, snarky british comedies, the qatsi trilogy. and really really bad film as well (you just haven't lived until you've seen "night of the lepus" and "spider baby"). some old, true favorites (that i can watch repeatedly) include joe versus the volcano, repo man, dogs in space, and heavenly creatures. i find myself quoting these films way too often sometimes... MUSIC! everything. well, almost everything. i'm very open to new music. i try to pick a new genre to expose myself to every so often. i'm very into a local radio station (wfmu-91.1 or online) which is completely freeform. i find a lot of my new music there. any still-pure form of free speech or non-commercialism ought to be revered, in my opinion. some things that i'm listening to repeatedly like they're my form of crack right now are stereolab, born heller, faun fables, four tet, and slow six. and i love the sounds of rachel's and chambercore-type stuff in a very personal, emotional way. i also love: sonic youth, dead can dance, meredith monk, and phillip glass. as far as FOOD goes, anything from the vegetable realm, except for brussels sprouts. i try them every once in a while, but they're still foul to me, heh. i love indian, thai, and afghani food. :-9
The six things I could never do without
i've been waiting for something clever to put here to present itself to my brain, but that hasn't happened. so i suppose i'll have to settle on the ordinary truths: friends, music, the box i'm typing this on, chocolate, A/C, and i dunno - indoor plumbing? that gets harder as you continue with it, to be honest. i wonder if i could keep it going. there are really very few *things* that i couldn't live without if i had to.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what to make for dinner, haha. and how much i hate cell phones (i still don't have one- ha! take that, technology
On a typical Friday night I am
making plans to do something interesting, hopefully. i don't have a regularly scheduled friday night routine, which i consider a very good thing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
i do have an inexplicit distaste for anyone driving an SUV (or worse- a hummer!).
