I am giddy, optimistic, and driven.
My Self-Summary
Dancer, writer, community organizer, entrepreneur, and news junkie,
I graduated from
Williams College, having
majored in political science and women's and gender studies, and
moved from
New
York City in late June. Learning the ins and outs of Portland
is a slow process.
I live to read and write. I am a sucker for schmoopy romance
stories, heroes, and books on American political development. Right
now, I am re-discovering my teenage pubescence in Wuthering
Heights.
I also took my first modeling job, which was sweet. I hung about
for about five hours, mostly drinking coffee and eating bananas and
pizza. For lounging about for most of the morning and early
afternoon, I got a solid $100 check. This is the life.
I love my friends even more--they're my family.
I'm looking for another guy who is as open, caring, and energetic
as I am.
What I’m doing with my life
Taking a life break after college graduation, seeing what's out
there, living in a structureless environment. Occasionally, I think
about preparing for graduate school or reading Wuthering Heights,
but then, I put on
True Blood and let the stereophonic
sounds lull me into teenage-girl bliss.
Other than that, I'm trying to get foot in the political door. I do
some community organizing stuff. I cannot wait for the
gubernatorial elections, and sometimes wonder how ramped up
Portland gets with its local elections. (This would be my first
election cycle in the Pacific Northwest.)
I’m really good at
Oh, my secret talents.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile or my laugh...because it's one of a kind.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books (Fiction): Neverwhere, Liquor, Thursday Next, Good Omens,
Snow Crash, La Mandragola, Perdido Street Station, and Lost
Souls.
Books (Non-fiction): One Market Under God, Witch Craze, Discipline
and Punish, Gay New York, Why Americans Hate Politics, The
Intellectuals and McCarthy, The Civilization of Renaissance Italy,
and What's the Matter with Kansas?
Movies: The Departed,
Angels in America, Sin City,
Kill Bill 1 and 2, Stepmom, Grey Gardens, First Wives Club, and
Nightmare before Christmas.
TV: West Wing, House, Pushing Daisies, True Blood
Music:
Regina
Spektor, Bat for Lashes, La Roux, Arcade Fire, The Pierces,
Mirah, the Sweeney Todd Soundtrack, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Food: Korean BBQ, Brunchbox burgers, tuna melts (I have been making
a lot of those recently. Unemployment is the leading cause of
mercury poisoning.), greasy, molten hot kung pao, onigiri, sweet
potato stew, and tortilla chips.
The six things I could never do without
1) My friends (they're my family)
2) Smiling
3) Nerd pride
...and then of course...
4) My laptop filled with books, CDs, and old pieces of
writing
5) The Internets
6) Coffee
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Psychological make-ups. I think about why people do the things they
do, what habits they have and why they develop them. I'm not quite
sure where this habit stemmed from, ironically.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have soft spots for wine and Buffy, and plan on taking long,
luxuriant salt baths with wine, Imogen Heap, and my latest book
every week.
Also, I went to yeshiva.
You should message me if
