My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.

for a version...
of myself."

NYC born and raised. Lived in Ohio, California, and Galway, Ireland, . I guess I'd say, in a nutshell, I'm witty, creative, extremely intuitive, and pretty kind too. I have the advantages and flaws that come with these traits.

Reading 'personal' essays and taking quizzes about which character we are on the Wire- they're fun distractions, even addictive sometimes- but I take them all with a grain of salt. Meeting someone in person is always the best way to find out what someone's really like. That said, George is my favorite Beatle, which must say something positive about me.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm writing a novel based on the film "Anna Karenina"- you know, for people who would rather read the book.
Also, I work with kids...
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Knowing the best way to get anywhere in the city by subway.
Playing things by ear, musical or non-musical aka improvising.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Big, curly hair, some days more "fro-y" than others. Also I'm 6+ feet (without the hair). Hopefully, my sense of humor, but that might be asking for too much.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Just a disclaimer: I like to list and listen, and I keep an open mind, but taste in art doesn't define someone. Maybe it helps me figure out what to get you for your birthday.

Books: I'm reading the Neil Young bio "Shakey" which is really detailed and insightful. I like some of what I've read of Eudora Welty, Philip K. Dick, Flannery O'Connor, Nabokov, Beckett, Thomas Mann, some Pema Chodron (not necessarily her writing, but what she says). I don't really have a favorite book- for a while it was "The Magic Mountain" by Thomas Mann and "Great Expectations", Dickens.

Movies: Coen Brothers, Cronenberg, Lynch, Hal Hartley, decent trashy films in genres of horror and sci-fi but also arty stuff depending. "Double Indemnity", "The Seventh Seal", Mike Leigh's "Naked", "Tootsie", "Walkabout", "Once Upon a Time in America", "The Lives Of Others", "Jaws", "Desperate Living", "Fearless" (great underrated Jeff Bridges film), "Let the Right One In", "Wake In Fright", "The Vanishing", "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari", "Rushmore", "Raiders of the Lost Ark", "Mulholland Drive", "Blade Runner", "Wall-E", "Goodfellas", "Kramer vs. Kramer", "Army of Darkness", "Killer of Sheep", "Dog Day Afternoon", "The Taking of Pelham 1,2,3" (the original!), "Chinatown", "A Woman Under the Influence", "This Is Spinal Tap"
