My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
i'm looking for someone to go out and enjoy the sunshine and starlight with me. i guess technically sunshine and starlight are the same thing but from different distances. kinda like dating and stalking.

I'm a classic introvert - a shy observer at first but once i'm comfortable and out of my shell i can be pretty silly. i've a penchant for dry sarcasm and can be a bit of a smartass, but all in good fun.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
i'm an advocate at a non profit agency that provides counseling and shelter services. it's kind of changed the way i conceptualize people, in a positive way. i hone my apocalypse survival readiness by trail running several times a week. i also swim regularly to further my quest to become a mermaid.

more abstractly, i'm learning to make more space within myself for others' realities, which is where compassion begins.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
going down a rabbit hole on google. i tend to start in one place, and in twenty minutes i'm somewhere far, ,far away. it's the cheap and lazy way of exploring how unexpectedly interconnected things can be.

i'm pretty good at listening without judgment.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

i love music of all kinds, i'm very open to new auricular experiences. i go through a lot of phases but country is my first love. i also like to hit a dancefloor somewhere from time to time. i'm not very good, but like most real gangstas i don't dance i boogie.

bit of a netflix junkie. i'm savoring Sherlock slowly since episodes are limited. LOVE The Boondocks. slowly crawling through Dexter, The Sopranos, How the Universe Works. my favorite shows of all time are the wire, orange is the new black, breaking bad, and everybody loves raymond.

Cherished food and movies: muchas muchas.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
a good pair of running shoes
the ocean and its majestic views and delicious bounty
sarcastic humor/satire
food for thought, literally and figuratively
compassion, for myself and others, and from others
music i love
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
food. making it, eating it. in another life i was a world-class chef, or 500 lbs and bedridden.

why do humans see beauty where we do? where does that feeling when you look upon the sun setting over the ocean come from? i was never taught that the way a hawk glides through the air is beautiful, it has just always seemed that way. why is that?

my worm bin. i recently started a worm compost bin, and i worry about it like it's my child. does it have enough to eat? is it getting sick? is it happy? how are its grades? is it getting a fruit fly infestation?

how to meaningfully participate in the turbulent dance of life as a big-brained mammal while being conscious of the insignificance of our very existence as a celestial body. i.e. "my needs and dreams are important to me, but this whole planet doesn't even matter in the grand scheme of the cosmos". how do you reconcile that?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
catching up on my ever-growing list of must-see movies and shows

marinating my brain in music and beer

in the kitchen. cooking, making drinks, just chillin.

i grapple with a lot of harsh realities of society in my line of work, and honestly it's made me a little uncomfortable around people who judge those human experiences or choose not to acknowledge or discuss them. i've always had a social justice lens, and enjoy the company of those who willingly hold the realities of people far removed from themselves and recognize their connectedness to their own.

you're physically active in some way. i think cultivating some sort of physical ability even if it's just running is essential to living fully and authentically as a homo sapien, not to mention a great investment in your well-being. i'm a fairly active person myself and would like someone to share that time with.

being on a woodland trail, feeling the breeze and smelling the trees puts a smile on your face. i know, i'm such a hippie.

you're gastronomically adventurous. i don't think i can truly connect with someone who has never had/inexorably refuses to try pig knuckles. your approach to a new menu is to order something you've never tried before.

you're kind. you're sarcastic. you have a sense of humor about yourself. you feel like you’re long overdue for a LOTR marathon. you’re in touch with your inner child. you can take me fishing.

if you read this whole thing, tell me what's your favorite way to prepare shrimp.
