My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm pretty much a "Yes" sayer (not unlike Molly Bloom at the end of Joyce's Ulysses. And, now that I think of it, I'm a a mainly Irish redhead!? Eureka!) I'm energetic, smart, funny, playful, joyous, honest, attentive, and a great believer in reciprocity. I take big joy in listening and talking, touching and being touched, giving and receiving. I've worked - and am working - hard to understand life and engage it with passion and realism. Am eager to meet sane, fun and Present women for engaging activities, possible friendship, possibly more. I'm an artist and teacher: I thrill to make and respond to the world - in creation, attending and loving, to encourage others to eschew fear, to celebrate its possibilities. I'm a passionate sailor (Dad taught me as a toddler - Yeehah!). I also love and play basketball and tennis; love most sports. And most arts - both visual and performing: dance, theatre, music. Love travel. Love intensity, insight, honesty, generosity. Love engaging the mind, body, senses, spirit, imagination. The OKCupid "My Details" choices are kinda narrow, so I landed on "Curvy." I am curvy - I certainly AIN'T angular?! Most aptly, I'm womanly, chunky and athletic. (Soft butch? Raucous femme? Hell's Bells, I dunno. You tell me!) Will be intrigued to get to know you.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
For general & constant, see above. I teach students from college age to the mid 90's, in hipster Arts school and in discussion-based humanities classes. I lecture, write and make art. I nurture my love for my bounding friendships, students, colleagues and family. I am growing to know and explore myself freshly and to connect with the world and women autonomously, as my dear long-time partner died December 2010. She was a great friend and partner; I am in a good place mentally, spiritually, physically. Am active already, growing more so. Plan to dance more, bike more, walk more. Hope / intend to connect.....
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening, empathy, clarity, honesty. Laughing & playing. Presentness. Packing - that is to say - storage units, U-hauls :-D, pantry shelves!? (am a DEMON for spatial relationships). Bigtime VISUAL. Supportiveness. Organizing, cut-to-the-chase understanding. Singing & whistling. Touch. Driving. SAILING!! (Did I say that before? DOOO kinda LOVE it ~~~)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Energy, enthusiasm, supportiveness, laughter, insight, red hair. My beret (it's hereditary. Not that my Mom was French; she was just a cutester.) The snorts that often accompany my laugh. (Now if only I were a snortin' Sandra Bullock or Debra Messer, we'd blow this place UP!?)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Ulysses, The Sound and the Fury, The Color Purple, As You Like It (GO ROSALIND!), Shakespeare's Sonnets, John Donne, W.B. Yeats, Dan Savage; 101 Dalmations, Babette's Feast, The Marriage of Figaro; Gotta confess - I'm addicted to Rizzoli & Isles: I laughingly attest that subtext Jane & Maura (Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander) are my Maimonides' "Guide for the Perplexed"!" Egad!? Following them on late-nite web brought me HERE!? Most music: esp. Handel's Messiah, Bach, Mozart, Sondheim, Broadway, Celtic, Jazz, Blues, Patty Larkin, some Eminem (primarily Slim Shady)
Food's fine: only known hate is tapioca pudding.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

Integrity

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Meaning. Courage. Right expression.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
At theatre, dance or music concert. Hanging with friends. Chilling (rarely) or even more rarely - but occasionally VERY welcome - sleeping. ZZZZZZ's are hard to come by. I LOVE MY LIFE; I am much blessed!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
For me, as I imagine for many, saying "Yes" to the world takes a lot of consciousness and wrestling with fear / uncertainty.

As intimacy grows, more truths unfold......
