I am smart, sassy, and spicy.

My Self-Summary

I figure if I don't have great tales to tell, I'm doing something wrong. I try to do the unexpected; it leads to all kinds of adventures and lots of self discovery.

I have a serious knack for mischief.

I'm a smart, spontaneous girl with a lust for life. Vivacious, very outgoing, and always up for adventure. I'm upbeat, silly, and warm.

I'm perfectly happy sitting in a coffee shop, catching a burlesque performance, checking out live music, dancing the night away, throwing a dinner party, or curling up with a good book. I love spending time outdoors, people watching, and enjoying fantastic parks and scenic parts of the city.

I love photography, travel, film, literature, and art. I'm also passionate about social justice and volunteer for a variety of causes.

I really, really wish that I had camera eyes.

I'm obsessed with music and pride myself on having extremely diverse tastes. I love learning about great bands and would love to meet someone who shares this passion.

I love it when people push me to try new things that I never would do on my own. Like when my friend forced me to play in a kickball tournament for her birthday & I ended up having the time of my life!

I love high fives.

I wish on stars.

You can't see it right now, but I'm dancing.

What I’m doing with my life

Enjoying it! Working for a social service org, traveling, hanging out with friends, throwing dinner parties, dancing, catching great shows, burning mix cds, taking photos, watching films, volunteering, camping, writing a novel.

I’m really good at

making friends & keeping them, planning fun adventures, looking on the bright side, being open minded, cooking, writing. I like to think I'm good with a camera. I'm also very good at knocking things over & catching them before they fall. It's my Spidey-like reflexes.

The first things people usually notice about me

probably that I'm doing something silly involving laughing, dancing, and elaborate hand gestures. Or my wild mane, big eyes, and curves.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books to read before you die:
One Hundred Years of Solitude
Lolita
The People of Paper
The Blind Assassin
Lately, I'm reading a lot of Latin American authors - Borges, Cortázar, Galeano, and always García Márquez.

Films:
too numerous to name, but a sample might include All About My Mother, City of Lost Children, Manhattan, Primer, Fight Club, Kill Bill, Eternal Sunshine, 8 1/2, Chinatown, Do The Right Thing, etc...

Music:
I love all kinds, but some of my favorite genres are rock, hip hop, soul, swing/big band, electro. Emerald City Soul Club is amazing! I'm listening to a lot of TV on the Radio, Saul Williams, Beirut, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Blackilicious, Orishas, Otis Redding, Lou Reed, Marvin Gaye, Louis Armstrong, The Police, Nirvana, Afro Cuban All Stars, Massive Attack

Food:
latino foods, like Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Sushi, salad, anything with avocados, peppers, spicy foods. I'm a vegetarian, but I'm not worried about what's on your plate. I love to cook and experiment

Television:
30 Rock, The Daily Show, Arrested Development, The Office, Dexter, Mad Men, Six Feet Under, Buffy (yep! I heart Joss Whedon), the occasional basketball game

The six things I could never do without

friends & family, coffee, my cameras, books, music, films, an active schedule. Yep, that's eight. Tough tamales.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

just about everything. I'm a voracious learner and I love subjects ranging from science to cabaret to history to art. I also think a great deal about the sea, literary pursuits, social justice, et cetera. I try to be politically and socially active. I love meeting passionate people who share their enthusiasm and teach me new things.

Also, I think a great deal about my dream trip: traveling to Barcelona and slowly weaving my way west through Spain, into Portugal, down to Morocco, and into Kenya, where I would spend some time volunteering in wildlife preservation. Or my dream project: making a documentary in Chiapas about the Zapatista rebellion there, visiting Palenque & other sites in the process. I'll get there algún dia.

On a typical Friday night I am

usually out with friends

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm thoroughly modern, but I still like a fella to make the first move

You should message me if

you are fun loving, intelligent, and kind. If you're the creative, passionate, quirky, adventure-seeking type. If you want to go on photo safaris throughout the city. If you want to stay up late talking into the wee hours, or watching films, or gazing at stars, or dancing to old records.
