My self-summary
**In the interest of full disclosure, I just wish to state that I'm happily taken and have no interest in finding greener pastures. My continued interest in this site is mainly to take the tests, answer questions, and find people with similar interests for friends. Always interested in making new friends.**

In some ways, I have to be seen to be believed. I'm a young guy with a fairly old soul. My predilections in entertainment, for example, skew a bit towards the more dated end of the spectrum. I've got the "More Old-Fashioned" badge in my profile, so make of that what you will.

Speaking of badges, I've also somehow merited the "more thrifty" badge as well. Well, I'm not made of money, but I'm not cheap. If I feel you're worth it, you'll be pampered. I think the questions that pegged me as "More thrifty" dealt with how willing I'd be to dish out more cash for trendier clothes and other things. Truth is, I'm just not materialistic. Designer labels are not a must for me. If they are for you, fine. Just don't ask me to go shopping with you then, because I generally don't know Versace from Ralph Lauren.

I'm rather introverted, at least until I'm behind closed doors (meant both in the G- and X-rated ways). I can make myself comfortable in social settings; however, if I feel you're trying to pump information out of me, as opposed to casual and genial conversation, I will clam up. Seemingly contradictory, though, I am a pretty playful person. Don't know if I'd go so far as to say "Big kid", but I am pretty silly person and enjoy making people laugh.

I'm very much into music, it's part of my career, as I'm a radio dj ("air talent" is the more appropriate term, since we don't spin discs anymore), but really, I try to take it with me wherever I go. Do not, however, try to get me on the dance floor. I cannot dance. I wouldn't mind learning how to dance, but I'm nowhere near club-ready caliber. For me, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is like the Oscars or the NFL. When it's that season, I can get pretty pre-occupied with it. As far as musical skills, I'm out of practice, but I can play piano and low-brass instruments. I like to sing, particularly in harmony with what's playing, but I'm not a karaoke kind of person.

I wouldn't say I'm generally pessimistic, but there are times when I can be so. Let's just say Murphy's Law is always a part of any plan I make, often in a comedic pratfall kind of way.

I consider myself fairly intellectual, but I try not to be condescending or pretentious about it. I'm resolute in my Christian faith, but I don't proselytize.

I am NOT a morning person. Enough said.

I'm pretty warm and affectionate, and relish physical contact, whatever it may be. I'm just as happy to wrap my arms around my girl and cuddle as I am to make out with her as I am to... well, you get the idea.

I'm not a great cook, chiefly because I don't get to do it that often, but I'm not lousy at it either. I am, however, a good baker. If you're good, I'll make you my original cookie recipe.

I like dogs, but prefer cats.

I am offbeat, affectionate, and honest

What I’m doing with my life
Working on a dream, basically. I'm not where I'd like to be, but I'm getting there, steadily. If that sounds cliche, keep in mind I am in Michigan, which has been in economically dire straits for the majority of the millennium thus far. People with full-time positions often feel the shadows of the crosshairs on their foreheads, because if the belt needs be tightened, guess who goes first. Still, I've got my goals, and I attempt to seize every opportunity I can to advance myself.

I’m really good at
Baking, as I mentioned. Also massages. I know that sounds cheesy, but I do have good strong hands for that. I've got co-workers past and present who'll attest to that.

I'm also pretty good at newspaper puzzle pages. I love sudoku, hidato, ken ken, jumbles, word searches, crosswords (except TV Guide's), etc. The one I'm not too good at, though, is kakuro. I can solve them, but I haven't quite developed a knack for them yet.

I can usually make people laugh too. But humor's pretty subjective.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Ah, the human pleasures category. I'll add TV and games, too.

I'm not an insatiable bookworm, but I have no aversion to it either. The Bible's important to me, obviously. I also enjoy Dave Barry, both columns and books. Growing up, I loved to read Matt Christopher, and can still enjoy a good sports book. Also, books on rock'n'roll. Classics are good too. I love "The Count Of Monte Cristo."

Movies: I don't go out to the movies that often, but I do enjoy a diaspora, though primarily comedies and cult classics. I think I'm a closet Western fan, too. Favorite movies: Brain Donors, Charade, Rio Bravo, The Princess Bride, Monty Python And The Holy Grail, The Pentagon Wars, The Fugitive, Clerks, Dogma, etc. I've seen very few movies that I DIDN'T like.

TV: I like game shows and comedy. Also, I enjoy renting on Netflix. I call them TVDs. Favorite shows: M*A*S*H, South Park, Battlebots, Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, anything Star Trek, Murder She Wrote, Diagnosis Murder, MXC, The Price Is Right, Match Game, Lingo, Hollywood Squares, Password. My newest favorite, though, is Househusbands Of Hollywood. Guilty pleasure confession: I love trashy dating reality shows (like Blind Date or Parental Control).

Music: Primarily oldies and classic rock. I've come to appreciate retro, too, due to my work. I enjoy electronica too, though I'm not familiar enough with it to discuss it in depth. The only styles I despise are modern mainstream country (I like older country and indie label though), most Top 40, and most Contemporary Christian (not to be confused with gospel or Christian Rock). Favorite artists and groups: the Four Seasons, the Four Preps, the Beatles and all their subsequent solo careers, Elvis Presley, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the O'Jays, Martha And The Vandellas, the Carpenters, U2, Queen, the Beach Boys, ABBA, the Grass Roots, Perry Como, Jewel, Rhianna, Def Leppard, Poison, DC Talk, Petra, and the list goes on and on. And doo-wop, I love doo-wop. Like I said, I'm a young guy with an old soul, though there are some modern acts I dig.

Games: just about any of the board variety or card variety, at least those I've played. Video: I'm an old-school NES guy. Old Mario, Zelda, Megaman, Metroid, and also Bases Loaded II. I also like to play standard computer games, like Minesweeper and Hearts.

Food: I enjoy most kinds. I don't particularly care for spicy stuff though, especially anything with tabasco sauce. And sadly, not big on veggies. I'll eat salads, but there are few vegetables I enjoy.

I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 23-35
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends
You should message me if
you want to. I'm up for casual chit-chat, for the most part. If you're considering me seriously, send a message if you feel you can respect and love me. Don't play mind games with me: it tells me you don't respect me and that I can't trust you. Be honest and upfront with me.

In the shallow end (because we all have them), the two most unattractive things that can come out of a woman's mouth are tobacco by-products (smoke, spit from chew, cigarette butts), and a ghetto accent. Nothing racial, it just sounds awful, no matter what the color of the girl. Tattoos and piercings are a turn off too (except for one piercing per ear). Also, I am a guy, looks do matter. Personality is paramount, but I need to like what I see too. I know, I hate myself for it too.
