I am considerate, intriguing, and subtle.

My Self-Summary

Something only just contained, threatening to spill over my consciousness and possess my inner being, like a demon out of a story book.

And me, just one of those minor characters, unnoticed, but there just the same. Potential of every kind, some good, some bad.

Not unable, simply unwilling, fearful, should I be too weak to hold it off, the malice of power.

And there I wait in the shadows, a minor character, fearing that I might become something more, unwilling to be anything less.

There, now I have laid bare before you my fears and ambitions without ever having talked to you. If you want to know more read on, but don't expect anything. You'll really never get anywhere that way.

I have been described as introverted, yet extroverted (don't ask me, ask the bartender). I am generally quiet, but I talk a lot more when I'm alone with someone than I do in groups. I am very open and willing to do things that takes most people by surprise (this does not, however, include sex, so don't ask for it). I have a passion for life and for people. Especially people.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm majoring in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). After that, I hope to get my Masters, and then I want to teach in other countries.

I’m really good at

I write a good deal of poetry. True, that doesn't mean it's good (and I have to be honest, not all of it is). But every now and again I write something worth keeping (read my journal). I am also good at painting, drawing, writing, reading, math, and maybe a few other things. I like to think I'm good at teaching, but time will tell. I am good at dancing (though not grinding, sorry).

The first things people usually notice about me

Most people will mention that I have a nice smile and pretty eyes. I don't always see it, myself, but I've heard it from enough people to believe it. It also is quickly obvious that I am quiet, but a good listener. Many people come to me just to talk about things going on in their lives. Honestly, I would like to be invited out for more than that, but I appreciate the level of trust that it takes for a person to confide in me. It is an honor to be in that position.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Anything by Vonnegut, The Grapes of Wrath, The Silver Wolf, The Catcher in the Rye, Hannibal, My absolute favorite by Vonnegut is God Bless You Mr. Rosewater. It is a wonderful book about a man driven insane by his need to help people.

Music: Eagles, Rolling Stones, Postal Service, the Doors, Pink Floyd, Fiona Apple, Modest Mouse, the Beatles, Alanis Morrisette, Jim Croce, Don McLean, Elliot Smith, Sarah Slean, Bruce Springstein, Dresden Dolls, Billy Joel. Of all these, I'd say Fiona Apple and the Rolling Stones are my absolute faves.

Movies: The Silence of the Lambs, The Godfather, Hannibal, Matrix, Donnie Darko, Girl Interrupted, Sling Blade, The Aviator, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, American History X (AMAZING),

Food: Chinese, Japanese, Cheesecake, Chocolate, More Chocolate, Mint, Tea!, Cracker Sandwiches

The six things I could never do without

Books, Paper, Pencil, Clothes, Food/Water, Means of Travel

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Philosophy. I'm always analyzing and questioning, and thinking about the whys and hows of things.

I also think a lot about my future and what I want to do with my life. I have so many plans, but I'm not sure just how they're going to work out.

I think about religion a lot, since I'm not really sure what I believe these days. Mostly, I think that there is something to most religions, but it's insane to think that we know what really is and isn't true. Well, maybe not insane. A little arrogant, perhaps (but don't let this stop you from contacting me. I enjoy discussing religion with people who think differently from me. It's refreshing to discover different viewpoints. Just don't give me the old, "it's a matter of faith." I believe you and everything, but that doesn't do much for convincing me, and you have to know I've heard it before. If you're going to argue religion with me, you have to tell me something I haven't heard). That said, you don't have to discuss religion if you don't want to (but you can probably tell by this point that I love to argue). There are all kinds of other things out there to discuss.

On a typical Friday night I am

Working on thesis or playing Japanese Monopoly with some really good friends. Or... Playing Darts and drinking a few beers with a few different friends Or... Watching a movie at the theater

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I got my first kiss at the age of 20. I was very anti-social in high school. I wore baggy, out of style clothing, I never trimmed my hair, and I read books 24/7 (in class, at lunch, after school, etc.) and while there were a few guys that were interested in me despite all that, they weren't usually my type (my type tend to be tall, loud, and very outgoing and opinionated).

You should message me if

If you feel like it. I may or may not answer, depending on how busy my inbox is at the time.

Oh, and hints on what I like:
Don't flatter me. The fact that you're writing me tells me you like what you see, and that's compliment enough. My ego is far too big, anyway, and if you really want to interest me, the best thing is to challenge me. If things are too easy for me I'll lose interest. Leave me guessing.
