I enjoy and NEED good quality strong coffee. I've been known to get up at the crack of dawn to cycle to the beach for early morning ocean swims. Other interests include: themed costume parties, writing, playing guitar. In 5 words I'm creative, loyal, active, intellectual and organised.
You're pretty much guaranteed a conversation about some aspect of linguistics with me at some point. I'm a massive language nerd and learning new tongues comes pretty easily to me.
Warning: I tend to flip to and fro between topics of conversation like it's nobody's business because everything is interesting to me. It can sometimes be a bit of a roller coaster ride.
This year I discovered Body Pump (a weights class at the gym) and I love it. I like feeling strong! Plus it helps me in my other sport loves of swimming and running.
I work in advertising on the sell-side - if you don't know what that is just ask :) It's very interesting and keeps me on my toes. I'm not bored yet which means it's really challenging me for the moment.
Update: I'm planning a 'screen-free' holiday over Christmas. That means no iPhone, no Android, no tablet, no laptop, no TV. I figure kindle is allowed as it doesn't emit light.
Work is wonderful, fascinating, fulfilling but I just need a little more than that in my life right now.
Spelling & Grammar
Mastering languages and nerding out about them
Some of my all time favs include:
The Secret History by Donna Tartt
On the Road by Jack Kerouac
Dirt Music by Tim Winton
Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood
Always open to recommendations!
TV: MadMen, True Blood, Media Watch, Gruen. Anything ABC. Liking Redfern Now for example.
Films: not a film buff, admittedly. Need to see more films. Recently saw Beasts of the Southern Wild and loved it :)
- notebook and pen
- my costume box filled with endless possibilities for fancy dress
- my family
- regular exercise
- technology / internet access (though I need to switch off over holidays and escape to places with no phone reception or internet)
right now the work in progress is focused around improving my quality of life in Sydney and includes but is not limited to: checking out Dawn Fraser baths and that other harbourside pool MacCallum Pool. trying the Jamie Oliver restaurant. succeeding at creating a herb garden. becoming a member of the MCA and go to all of the exhibitions.
If you have any other ideas or a bucket list of your own, let me know!
Also please message if you have something interesting to say!
