I am snarky, adventurous, and inquisitive.
My Self-Summary
I'm an atheist and anarchist who loves books, philosophy, learning,
tattoos, mountain gorillas, bonobos, black and white photography,
abstract art, drives in the country, waterfalls, rain, trees and
long talks about many subjects.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm writing a book about my travels, reflections, love, life and
loss. I'm also going to be working on my Ph.D. in biological
anthropology to study mountain gorillas and hominid evolution in
greater depth.
I’m really good at
listening, getting to the nitty-gritty and not being distracted by
flash, thinking (or over-thinking as the case may be), making fun
of just about anything, school.
The first things people usually notice about me
are my tattoos.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: No Touch Monkey, Bad Science, Oral Sadism and the Vegetarian
Personality, Devil in the White City, Idiot America, the RE/Search
series, The Secret History of Emotion, many essays by Peter
Kropotkin, and Why People Believe Weird Things.
Movies: Harold and Maude, Grosse Pointe Blank, 28 Days Later,
Elling, Memento and just about anything with Christopher
Walken.
Music: The Adverts, Plain Wrap, Nina Simone, Concrete Blonde, John
Coltrane, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, The Black Keys, Sharon Jones and
the Dap Kings, The Pogues, Flogging Molly. Punk, reggae, zydeco,
jazz, blues and on and on and on.
Stand-up: Jello Biafra (he's a bit like stand-up), Bill Hicks,
Lewis Black, Eddie Izzard (old stuff), George Carlin and Ron
White.
TV: Dexter, Battlestar Galactica, The Vicar of Dibley, Father Ted,
Black Books, The Bing Bang Theory.
Favorite quote from TV: "Radiation burns -- a little mishap while I
was building my own CAT scanner.... In fact, I was briefly able to
see the inside of my sister's guinea pig, Snowball, before he
caught fire. It led to an interesting expression in our house: "not
a snowball's chance in a CAT scanner.""
Food: Indian and lasagna
The six things I could never do without
1. My husband
2. Peter Stokkebye tobacco
3. Books
4. Thunderstorms in the forest
5. My record player
6. Good coffee
I spend a lot of time thinking about
human rights, philosophy, how I can make things better, what's the
point? Is there one? Stupidity, fear, arrogance.
Right now, I'm thinking about the fact that I just typed
"revolution" into Google's search, and the first 50!!! results were
products for sale!
On a typical Friday night I am
Lately...unpacking all my crap because we just bought our first
home. Wanting to go out for drinks.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
is that I don't want to get more personal than I already have.
You should message me if
You've given me high ratings. I'm not rating back and forth any
more because it's a waste of time, and no one ever seems to answer
messages here.
Or, if you want to. Or to talk about science, philosophy, religion,
stupidity, music, politics, tattoos or what matters most in
life.
I'm very shy, at first, and it's quite difficult for me to start a
conversation with someone I don't know. Once I know you, it's an
entirely different story.
