I am kind of a nerd, thoughtful, and tenacious.
My Self-Summary
I am working to creating some serious smile lines due to over-use.
I like to cook new, unfamiliar fare - Indian, Senegalese, Central
American, and Thai. Had an incident with an Ethopian dish and 5
tablespoons of cayenne, but that was only once. I listen to NPR too
much. I read Mental Floss magazine. I miss living in San Francisco.
Sometimes, I skip a few steps in public. I find people and their
stories totally fascinating. I am actually sweeter than I am sassy
(Shhh. Don't tell anyone).
What I’m doing with my life
Other than being tremendously satisfied with it? Well...
Have you ever had the feeling that you are finally on just the
right path? All of a sudden there is no rush. The flow pulls you
along at just the right pace to all the right places. Not that I am
satisfied and I definitely haven't reached my ambitions yet, but
right now I know I don't need to worry so much about if it is going
to happen or not. It is.
On a less existential note, I am trying to paint and cook more.
After my first kayaking experience late last summer, I have decided
I needed to buy a kayak; that way, I'll spend every spare weekend
next summer braving lakes and rivers. I try to get involved in
helping with the healthcare effort, but the opportunities to do so
in Sacramento are either non-existent, or are poorly
advertised.
I work, read, and bike around midtown. I just got a foster dog who
is a total lovebug if not just a little damaged. I drive to the bay
to spend time with friends whenever possible. I laugh as heartily
as anyone you know, and it feels great.
I’m really good at
I'm great at pulling random pieces of trivia and information out of
my... mental database. At laughing it off. At providing comfort. At
stripping it all away and getting to the heart of the matter. At
getting goofy. Finding alternative solutions. Being a patron of the
arts. At seeing and articulating the other point of view, even if
it is not my own.
I excel at my job, because I love it. When I don't feel so lovey,
sometimes my results wane. It always changes, and I can't 'fake the
funk.' Friends say I look good wearing little makeup and with
unruly hair. Then I confound many when I dress up.
The first things people usually notice about me
People tend to comment on my intellect first, which is scary and
sets me up to disappoint them as soon as I say something stupid or
use the wrong $500 word when a simple one would do. Women notice my
skin or my shoes. Men notice my hair or my lips. Folks notice that
I enjoy what I do. No one seems to notice that I have no idea how
to respond to their kind words.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
From My Facebook Profile: Books: Another Bullshit Night in Suck
City, Freakanomics, Clockers, But Beautiful (love, love, love that
book) Lamb, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Jitterbug Perfume,
Narcissuss and Goldmund, all things Sedaris. Movies: Run Lola Run,
Hate: A Comedy, Volver, The Cooler. TV Shows: Simon Schama's Power
of Art,
The Wire
Music: I love it!
jazzhip hopindie rock soul/funk I particularly enjoy
artists that combine genres.
I'm a pretty adventureous eater. Try me.
The six things I could never do without
The obvious (family, love, food, etc), but those don't count
NPR
Lip Balm
A Cause
A Challenge
A Good Laugh
My "What Would Omar Do?" t-shirt
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to engage, inspire, and excite people about taking action and
making changes. Inclusion. Awareness. Healthcare. Young people and
their well-being. How I might transport a kayak on my convertible.
My hair. Travel. The past. What I might be forgetting. Where I put
my..... (lip balm, car keys, glasses, ipod, etc). What I should be
reading. Whether I should get a tv or not. Religion. Justice and
Forgiveness.
On a typical Friday night I am
On my way to San Francisco for music, food, and friends, or out to
dinner and into bed early with a good book. I haven't figure out
where the hip, but not irritatingly hip, hang out in Sacramento
yet.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I don't get David Lynch. And I've tried. I've really tried.
And I didn't become an NPR donor until last year. I know. Does it
help that I always felt guilty?
Now in French
Je n'parlez pas Francias bon.
You should message me if
If you are looking for someone to explore with. Write me if you are
smart. Smart enough to recognize that my profile is full of
fragments, grammatical and spelling mistakes, but choose to see
them as an artistic choice. If you like to laugh and don't take
yourself too seriously. Write me if you enjoy a good (or bad) pun.
Message me if you are tall, because it makes me feel so feminine to
walk arm in arm with someone I can wear heels with and still have
to get on my tippy toes to kiss his cheek. If you think I am cute,
comely, pretty, beautful, outstandingly-super-model gorgeous, or
not truly repulsive, send me a note.
