I am hi-freakin'-larious, compassionate, and strong-willed.
My Self-Summary
I never know what to say in these things, the parts of my
personality that are worth sharing, what might or might not be
interesting to someone reading this. Maybe I’ll go with a list of
ten, in no particular order, of things about me, and maybe one or
two or three of those things will spark.
1. I’m more of a Mac person. I’m not one of those death-to-PCers,
but I will always choose a Mac, if given a choice.
2. I’ve been listening to a lot of seventies music lately. I need
someone to give me good new music to listen to.
3. Boston has turned me into a Red Sox fan. I’d never supported any
team ever before. Now I own three player t-shirts.
4. Speaking of t-shirts, I bought like eight or so Obama t-shirts
during the campaign. More probably.
5. One of my legs is longer than the other.
6. My first and favorite job was at a local children’s bookstore in
Wichita where I grew up. I loved that job.
7. I have two cats. They are integral.
8. I feel it necessary to admit right up front, I am not much of a
cook. I would be an excellent assistant, as in, “Could you please
cut the potatoes up?” or “Could you set the table in that beautiful
way you do?”
9. I’m sad I never met Jerry Orbach.
10. I make my bed every day because I believe getting into a made
bed every night is a small luxury you can give yourself.
What I’m doing with my life
Writing, going back to school to get a certificate in graphic
design, hanging out with friends, volunteering at the Animal Rescue
League of Boston, really cleaning out my office.
I’m really good at
Though not a chef, I am really good at making cookies from scratch,
especially butterscotch-chip, oatmeal cookies. It's my signature
cookie. I'm good at remembering commercial jingles and tv theme
show lyrics. I'm good at listening. I'm good with witty, sarcastic
or even snarky comebacks and sometimes I even think of them right
when I need them. There's other stuff, but that's a start.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
So many.
When Harry Met Sally, Crimes & Misdemeanors, The Great Muppet
Caper, Jane Eyre, Hannah and Her Sisters. There are more.
Jane Eyre (now the book), the Miracle Life of Edgar Mint, So You
Want To Be A Rock N' Roll Star, Triangle, About A Boy, What to
Keep, London is the Best City In America. More. All the Ramona
books from when I was a kid.
Semisonic, Dan Wilson, recently discovered the Clarks, Otis
Redding, Solomon Burke, Tom Petty. Again, there are more.
Mexican, especially guacamole, gnocchi, drinks one can put a lime
in, things that include garlic, lattes, thai, croissants, brunch
food. Ooh, ooh, churros with spicy chocolate dipping sauce at Toro.
Pesto.
The six things I could never do without
~my cats (two)
~my sweet little mac that i'm currently typing on
~air-conditioning
~weather on the 8's
~bookshelves
~my bed
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why and why not.
And then of course what I need to get done, how hot or cold it
might be outside, stories to write down and possible designs for
future projects.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually in. Saturday seems to be the night I hang out with friends,
out to dinner, watching a movie, playing games (that's cool again
right?) or just sitting around drinking and laughing. It makes me
happy.
