My self-summary
I don't take myself too seriously, and love to find the humor in the smallest and most ordinary things. I'm a bit of an artist at heart but neither crazy nor addicted to substances...in fact I'm very sensible! I never get upset about inconsequential matters, and try to enjoy life as much as possible while also doing something good for the world. In my quest to become more like Larry David I've been working on becoming more high-strung, irritable, and neurotic...it's not going so well!

Anyone interested in seeing my Facebook profile, I have nothing to hide!: http://www.facebook.com/kmattingly3

I've visited 35 countries and lived in 7: US, Australia, Croatia, Scotland, Ireland, France, and Spain

I lived for two years in Spain, working as an English teacher and volunteer for UNICEF (for whom I still do translations).

I LOVE accents...of all kinds!
What I’m doing with my life
Everything I can to take advantage of what I have, and to help others around me enjoy life as well! Currently working for The First Tee of Oakland, a nonprofit teaching at-risk children life skills through golf (I work both in the office and as a coach). I don't believe that work should define who someone is, but I do think it can be a great means for fulfillment. In the past few years I've worked and traveled extensively throughout Europe, and have seen the many different attitudes and styles of approaching and enjoying life...and from each variation I've taken a little bit! Last summer I finished two years working as an English teacher in Spain for students of all ages, and have loved the opportunities and challenges that come with living abroad. The work has been gratifying but I want to continue challenging myself to do the most I can for myself and others around me.

I have also been a volunteer and translator (Spanish to English) for UNICEF Spain since September 2011.
I’m really good at
never vomiting, staying logical and even-tempered, empathizing with people, listening, embarrassing myself playing soccer, making someone feel special and (perhaps) beautiful, being objective, imitating the French rail network announcement jingle, being patient and understanding with people who drive others nuts, sleeping in airports, train stations and bus stations, and playing golf
The first things people usually notice about me
I am visibly approachable and easy to talk to, always! Many also say I look calm and relaxed (and they're right!)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: A Year in the Merde (Stephen Clarke); French Lessons, A Year in Provence (Peter Mayle); A Sunburned Country, Neither Here Nor There (Bill Bryson)

Movies: Eurotrip, American Beauty, Mulholland Drive, Into the Wild, Swimming Pool, Paris je t'aime (yea okay I guess there is a French motif in books and movies)

Shows: Above all: CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, but also The Sopranos, Dexter, Flight of the Conchords, and crime shows such as Forensic Files and CSI (Las Vegas, and Miami only for the David Caruso unintentional humor!)

Music: Electro, Trance, World, New Age, 80's, Funk, Pop, Country, Classical, EVERYTHING...but not so much death metal nor modern rock. Lately I've been indulging in female vocal trance, French rap and Arabic pop...

Food: NOT a picky eater...I love trying food of all different types and origins! Favourites by nationality would probably be, in no particular order: Croatian, Italian, French, Spanish, Thai, Japanese, Mexican, Indian...there are very few I don't like (Scottish cuisine isn't the best, but a Deep Fried Mars Bar must be tried once in a lifetime!)
The six things I could never do without
Internet
Contact lenses (-4.5 and -5.0!)
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Trance/Electro music
My family's fantastic sense of humor :)
Girls...duh!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Funny moments from the past (I can milk a relatively unfunny moment or quote for months or years), how I want to take advantage of my opportunities in life, how lucky I have been in so many ways, the feelings and perspectives of others, my next meal, what Larry David would do...
On a typical Friday night I am
out for a nice dinner and drinks with co-workers or friends, then to a bar or perhaps a club...or home for a quiet night discovering new music, movies, painting, watching true crime shows, etc. (I'm quite happy with the latter!)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I think girls who love to eat a lot are super sexy!!! I also have a mild glasses fetish :)
