My self-summary
Hi! I'm super bearded, at times, but not right now, actually--- since my last shave, that is. Anyway, we shan't get hung up on the small details. The point is that I could, in a moment's notice, become super bearded, and that is the true litmus test: the capability, amirite? I'm a weary traveler, for the time being -- or maybe gentle wanderer sounds a bit better. And if I had a simple philosophy about life -- which I ordinarily don't-- it would appeal to experiential things, which suits this description, I think, because if I write about myself, and if one happens to read my writing about myself, both are necessarily falling short of the experience -- which is true of every self-summary. The trick is that it should be good enough to create a desire in others to seek the real experience, but not so good that they feel like they've already gotten it. And it certainly shouldn't ramble on in an incoherent fashion such as this one. Whoops.
What I’m doing with my life
The last two years have been pretty fantastic. I've been able to start scratching my travel itch --- a task which, to finish, will require about twelve more hands with long finger nails!
I’m really good at
I'm really good at..... humility that flirts with self-deprecation to a degree that won't allow me to answer this question without first qualifying it. Okay, here we go:

-Every now and again, I can write a real song.
-At one point in life, I was a good basketball player.
-I have my moments in speech that I resemble someone who might accidentally and mistakenly be accused of sounding intelligent ;)
The first things people usually notice about me
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books- The Great Gatsby
Movies- Shawshank Redemption
Shows- Californication, Dexter, No Reservations
Music- Fleet Foxes, Beach House, Avett Brothers, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Grateful Dead, Great Lake Swimmers, Jeff Buckley, The Lumineers, Nas, Reflection Eternal, Goat Rodeo Sessions, Ray Lamontagne, Alex Ebert.... so many more
Food- World food. Truly I'm easy to please when it comes to food. But in order -- and this is likely to change-- Indian, Mexican, Thai, Mediterranean, Korean
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order, here are the six things I couldn't do without:

-Guitar or piano
-Pen and pad
-A good book to read
-People with whom to share the human condition and exchange ideas
-My hearing or sight
-Goodness of heart
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to find profoundness through simplicity...
On a typical Friday night I am
Maybe lounging around with a guitar in my hands, trying to write the perfect song--- which of course I've never done. Lately, though, I'm more likely to be on an overnight bus across borders.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've recently shaved my beard, and I'm basically inconsolable about it. Whew. False alarm. Beard is back in effect.
You should message me if
You have a good joke, a pleasant thought, sage advice or just want to exchange hellos. I reckon if you are going to 'like' me, you ought to send a message, ya?
