Hello Everyone!

I'm just a hard-working, tall, svelte brunette... who happens to be a post-op transsexual. (That mean's I'm anatomically, emotionally, socially, and hormonally female now, but for a very miserable portion of my life I had boy parts.) If you're not comfortable with that, that's o.k. -- just don't bother me with your issues about it!

I enjoy spending time with my friends and their kids, going to movies that make me think, and reading a good book or listening to good music. Lately I've gotten into a little politcal activism trying to promote civil rights protections for gender identity.

I enjoy great conversations with intelligent people and look forward to making new friends. Life is short, so it's important to make the most of it and treat everyone in your life with dignity and respect.

Mostly working, and sometimes some political blogging (see what I'm thinking about), hanging out with my friends. Looking to find someone special to get to know...

During the week I probably won't have the time to answer e-mails, but on the weekends, I'll do whatever I can.

Despite my medical history, I'm just a regular kind of gal looking for a regular kind of guy. I'm just looking for a normal, caring, loving, heterosexual relationship with an intelligent and fascinating guy.

Solving signal integrity problems on high-speed PCBs. I make a pretty good pork and spinach fettucini dish. Having fun with kids, or helping them with homework (ok, so I'm a geek -- get used to it ;). Bad puns. I have an acute ability to view things from "a different angle," without being obtuse. (I warned you about the puns!) Artful alliteration. Avoiding accidents with "triple Ms" (Moron Maryland Motorists) on my daily commute.

My height, my curls, my big smile, and my charm! ;) Sometimes I think certain people notice other things about me... but I probably don't want to know what it is. ;)

Music: Tori Amos, The Be Good Tanyas, Jewel, Suzanne Vega, They Might Be Giants, Tommy James and the Shondells, Donovan, Talking Heads, Bobby McFerrin, Sinead O'Conner, Paul Simon, Simon and Garfunkel, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd... and many others. I like music with a good melody that isn't too repetitive... metal, punk, rap, and country quickly get on my nerves. I can appreceate the skill and technique required for jazz, but so far my brain hasn't usually "clicked" with it. I enjoy some classical to, depending on my mood.

Movies: Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Brazil, V for Vendetta, Wall-e, Juno, North Country, Freedom Writers, Stand and Deliver, the original Planet of the Apes movies, Gattacca, AI, Big Fish -- just about any Tim Burton and / or Johnny Depp movie, Pursuit of Happyness and a lot of Will Smith's movies, films that make me go "hmmm..."

Food: sushi (just the plain fish and vegetable ones... no funky stuff!) stroganoff, pasta, salads, healthy stuff, mint chocolate chip cookies with almonds, brownies with walnuts. Chocolate is my favorite vegetable -- especially if it's dark. Ice cream with chocolate -- Jomocha Almond Fudge...mmmm!

Books: histories of science, biographies, science fiction, money management

TV: a lot of PBS... Frontline, Nova, anything science related...
Dr. Who, Red Dwarf, Star Trek (any and all of them)

Tori Amos CDs, peanut M&Ms, a good night's sleep, homemade lemonade, sushi, decaf herbal tea with honey.

Montgomery County Bill 23-07. A group of right-wing zealots put together a petition to repeal a new law providing some much needed protections for people with non-conforming gender identity. I sometimes blog on a site which attracts their vitriolic commentary. I hope to teach people a few things about what transgender really means, but they're too busy ranting about drag queens in the ladies' rooms.

Heading home from a long day at work. :( I definitely need to find something better to do on Friday nights! Saturday and Sunday could use some work to, come to think of it.

My house is a mess. I may have to move to a new one... I'm not feeling the same urge to keep it clean as I used to!

Oh, and my hair doesn't look nearly so good as it does in the pictures when I get out of bed in the morning! (Go figure!)
