I am honest, outspoken, and overly flattering.
My Self-Summary
Just so y'all know, I'm dating a lovely lady, so I'm only here to
find new friends (and to take quizzes, of course).
In short, I'm an office drone whose first love is
classical music. I
generally follow
Tibetan Buddhism, but don't let
religion rule my life. I'm also a very political
socialist feminist who happens to work for a
credit card company. Irony rules supreme.
I am forever running into things and finding small scrapes and
bruises of unknown origin. I enjoy running through open fields and
clambering through the
woods (which may explain some of the
scrapes and bruises), and also
dancing and sitting in trendy bars
(which may explain some of the other scrapes and bruises).
I have a blog (who doesn't?) and two cats, read lots of books,
fight a never-ending battle against clutter in my apartment, and
like to plan vacations to far-off places. I enjoy being quiet and
being loud, and I'm always looking to learn new things. I've been
told that the way I dress is "artsy," and I'm not exactly sure how
to take that.
What I’m doing with my life
Working for The Man, earning money to travel or eventually go to
grad school. I sing in a big ol' choir that I love and read
pretentious books to make myself feel smart. When I'm not doing
that, I'm corraling friends to find fun new ways to populate
Facebook with embarrassing pictures.
I’m really good at
Singing; being a wine snob; speaking in depth on subjects about
which I actually know very little; embarrassing myself; learning
foreign languages (collect them all!); spouting off about astrology
at the drop of a hat
The first things people usually notice about me
My hair; my posh professor speak riddled with profanities; and
Scorpios tend to notice my eyes.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
a) The Book of Disquietude by
Fernando Pessoa feels like it
could have been written just for me, and thus wins the prize as my
favorite book. Apart from that, I love non-genre-specific
literature (think Chabon, Atwood, and Wilde) and non-fiction books
about politics, science, and religion;
b) could never pick, but a quick perusal of my DVD collection and
wish list yields Hot Fuzz, GalaxyQuest, Amadeus, Dr. Strangelove,
Frida, No Country For Old Men, The Iron Giant, Logan's Run, Duel,
The Royal Tenenbaums, La Vie En Rose, Spellbound, Tootsie, Tron,
and Wallace and Gromit;
c) could never ever pick, but I like a little bit of
everything;
d) Vietnamese, Thai, Greek, Indian, Japanese, Ethiopian, Persian,
and just about everything but Italian or Chinese. (Though I won't
turn it down if it's offered.)
The six things I could never do without
1) My sense of sight; 2) music; 3) something to read; 4) access to
the New York Times; 5) my friends; 6) privacy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Morality, ethics, and economics; my NaNoWriMo plot; where I want to
travel when I have money; social justice; whoever the current crush
is.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends embarrassing myself, having friends over for
dinner & drinks, or beating back the clutter in my home with a
chair and a whip. (Kinky.)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I am the best person to have on your trivia team. I'm a walking
almanac.
You should message me if
You know the difference between "it's" and "its" and when to use
each. You hold strong opinions, or can at least pretend you do.
Words like "productivity" or "synergy" give you hives, but words
like "perspicacity" and "boobies" make you smile. You generally
dislike the whiff of conservativism. You can talk with me without
getting either soapboxes or horses--high or
otherwise--involved.
If you've read this far and haven't been scared off, then lob a
message my way.
