I am quirky, adaptable, and judgemental.

My Self-Summary

I'm a bit of a hater. Wait, I probably shouldn't put that first. Let me start again.

I drive too fast, but of the three tickets I've gotten, only the one where I rear-ended that old lady was merited. I've got big dreams, and I'm working up the courage to follow through with them. I get really excited about chickens.

What I’m doing with my life

When not working to end unsafe abortion internationally by photocopying and taking meeting minutes, I spend my evenings knitting myself an iPod cozy while watching Dynasty. Cause secretly I'm an ambitious housewife from both the 1950s and 1980s. Who owns an iPod.

I’m really good at

Organizing, especially organizing dim sum outings. Making mix CDs with extensive liner notes. Conforming to OkCupid's wish I make things blue. Finding the feminist angle to any country song. Except Toby Keith. I hate that fucker.

The first things people usually notice about me

The first thing people usually notice about my cat is that she's both friendly and aloof. She gets it from me.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Gone with the Wind, The Color Purple, Barbara Kingsolver, Our Bodies, Ourselves, Where Women Have No Doctor.

Movies: Movies with Harold in the title tend to be good-Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, Harold and Maude. 9 to 5, I Heart Huckabees, Transamerica, Dead Poets Society, Mary Poppins, Chicago, Reefer Madness, Angels in America, The Station Agent, Talladega Nights. Bollywood movies, especially those with Shahrukh Khan.

Music: Right now, at this very minute, I'm listening to Suddenly, Seymour because it makes me happy. A couple of weeks ago, I raided one of my gay boyfriends music collections and made a three hour playlist of awesome 80s girl rock. My fallback music is always country and alt-country (whatever that means) recently. Dolly Parton is my favorite; Loretta Lynn is a close second. I also like Allison Moorer, Dixie Chicks, Alison Krauss, Green Day, the All-American Rejects, the Killers, Everclear, older Madonna, Martina McBride, Emmylou Harris, Kasey Chambers, Shakira, Natasha Bedingfield, Avril Lavigne, Pink, Johnny Cash, Rosanne Cash, The Mavericks, Jill Sobule, ABBA.

Food: I like food.

The six things I could never do without

I have amazingly supportive friends and family. Without them, life is just too sad to think about. Other than that, I do like to be clothed when I go out in public. I also enjoy eating a great deal. I'm trying to think of the things I took with me when I left the country. The only "luxury" or "personal" item I remember is all my cds. And my sarcasm.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

My job and the people who work with me. The tasks I wish I had robots to take care of for me. What I want to eat.

God, I'm shallow. I feel like I should say that I think about how to cure world hunger or existence and god. But that would be a lie.

I spend a lot of time thinking like an eighth grade boy. Say something. I'll probably interpret it as a sexual reference and find it amusing.

On a typical Friday night I am

An awesome Friday night would include a trip to the Bollywood cinema, followed by bomb ass indian food and shit talking with my friends. Then I turn in, so that I can go shoot guns early in the morning. I like to work on my marksmanship. yeah!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

One time I was arrested for misdemeanor larceny. I'm totally innocent.

You should message me if

you want to explore Durham with me. Or you want to help me plan my awesome country music tour that's going to bring family planning education to the Dakotas. Or if you think you can come up with more dirty gun references than me, or could beat me in a cartwheeling contest, or think you know more Buffy trivia than me.
