My self-summary
I am a (relatively) young human male. I enjoy long walks in the moonlight, philosophizing, consuming sustenance, and working hard on things that are important to me. I realize that these things can often come off as dry, but rest assured that this is my attempt (if a pitiful one) at humor and I am generally a very amenable and gracious bi-pedaled carbon-based life-form descended from an ape (creationist need not apply).
What I’m doing with my life
- Working as a Chief Operations Officer of a small tech startup and almost making money (taking preorders right now!)
- Scheming about an some ambitious space project with my entrepeneur friend (along the lines of what Mars One and Planetary Resources are doing) and trying to nurture it into something incredible
- Eating, sleeping, and making merry, oh and working on other things, like... you know... a normal job. I have one of those too.
I’m really good at
listening. I focus so much on it that I need to take extra time to think before saying my piece. I've been called an introvert, and I suppose that's true, but really what this means is that I will hear every word you say, and truly give you an honest, and well thought out answer. I am never ever EVER going to spout out some offensive thing at random, as everything I say has been said in my head at least 5000000000000 times before it exits my mouth.
The first things people usually notice about me
My low voice and relaxed demeanor. Oh and that I am fairly tall.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
LITERATURE:
Science fiction (e.g. Isaac Asimov, Frank Herbert, Robert Heinlein) and history (e.g. Stephen E. Ambrose, A People's History, Three Kingdoms)
Most recently: Abundance by Peter Diamandis, Mission to Mars by Buzz Aldrin, and just starting Space Chronicles by Neil deGrasse Tyson

FILM:
Tarkovsky, not Tarantino;
Nostalghia, Stalker, Solaris, Brazil, Take Shelter, The Fountain, Ink, Why We Fight

SHOWS:
- live music (not necessarily concerts)
- plays (e.g. Shakespeare)
- multisensory, avant garde experiences

TV SHOWS
Star Trek, Farscape, Game Of Thrones, Peep Show, Breaking Bad, BBC World News
I frequent Netflix... frequently.

MUSIC:
Variety; generally not what's on the radio, usually not popular hip hop, pop, or rock, often not country (except Johnny Cash & the soundtrack to Fallout: New Vegas); Downtempo & electronica (e.g. Emancipator, Ronald Jenkees), 90's rock (e.g. grunge), 50's, 60's, 70's, & 80's music (esp. prog rock)

FOOD:
Amenable; pescetarian, moderately spicy food, shrimp chow mein, Tania's stuffed pizza (only available in Royal Oak, MI).

In summation, I like what I like, and while I would love to tell you that I am JUST a sci-fi nerd, or JUST an art snob, that's not the truth. I am all-encompassing in my tastes, and if I hear it, see it, taste it, smell it, etc, and it pleases me I am apt to enjoy it as often as possible. So don't think that because I chose not to write a novel in this section about absolutely everything I enjoy, doesn't mean if you don't see your favorite band here that I won't listen to them with you.
The six things I could never do without

6. Something else that's cliche
I spend a lot of time thinking about
A lot of things...
The structure and policies of the United States Government and how they could be improved.
Industry, technology, and infrastructure: how they can best utilized and augmented.
How to be a decent leader at my startup without stifling or patronizing people.
How Pyrrhus of Epirus and Hannibal were defeated by Rome.
How humanity can expand into the stars.
Why I can never find anyone to play D&D with.
What makes a movie compelling and what makes it fall flat.
How the human race can be united.
How can I make 3-year old laptop run even better in spite of facing increasing diminishing returns.
Why there is suffering in the world and what purpose it serves, if any.
How awesome Morrowind is.
The best way to break into the private space sector.
So yeah.
On a typical Friday night I am
Engaged in various and often humorous activities with friends, family, or by myself.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
OkCupid took away private notes, so I've become a nihilist. Take that!
