My self-summary
I’m here to meet some new people, hear about places I've never been, and learn new things.

I’m hoping to meet someone intelligent, funny, kind, and unexpected, someone who is passionate for whatever it is they are doing, and someone who savors the richness of life. A long-term relationship would be great someday with the right person, but for now I want to find people to laugh and spend some time with, and with whom I can share a conversation, drink, or trip.

I’m an artist, turned archaeologist, turned urban planning student with wide-ranging interests and few things I won’t try once. I like traveling (and want to do more of it), good bars, historic places, loud music, evocative art, hikes to the tops of mountains, and laughing a lot.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now, most of my time is spent working on a graduate degree in urban planning. That means thinking a lot about our built environment, walking around observing places, and striving for ways to make them better. That and making a bunch of maps. If you’ve always thought you needed more maps in your life, I’m a great person to know.
I’m really good at
I asked a friend and here’s what she said.

1) Shouting at televised hockey (my favorite sport).
2) Making a Manhattan.
3) Being the first to run into the water at the beach.
4) Pitching ideas for books I'll never write.
5) Being a friend.

So, good stuff.
The first things people usually notice about me
Usually, it’s that I’m dancing badly but with utter abandon. That and my eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Ok, here’s an embarrassing admission: I don’t read books, especially nonfiction, nearly as much as I should. That’s something I want to change.

I love movies. A few of my favorites: A River Runs Through it; There Will be Blood; When Harry Met Sally; Inglorious Basterds; basically anything by Wes Anderson, the Coen Brothers, or Werner Herzog.

I don’t have cable, so I don’t watch much TV, but online I’ll watch Arrested Development, Parks & Recreation, and… Downton Abbey. What?

Music. Well, a lot of stuff. Top 40 hip-hop, indie rock, electropop, electronic dance music. Artists I like, in no particular order: M83; Chromatics; Robyn; LCD Soundsystem; Cut Copy; Joy Division; The Raveonettes; Naked and Famous; MNDR; Twin Shadow; Crystal Castles; Icona Pop; The XX; Chairlift; Electric Youth; Now, Now. I could go on.

Food. I’m an adventurous eater, but generally prefer hummus plates and turkey sandwiches.
The six things I could never do without
(In no order)
1) Music. It adds a new dimension to even the most common experiences.
2) Surprises. I mean, I don’t want life to be boring.
3) Heating. This one may be self-serving and temporary, but hey, it’s cold out right now
4) My watch. I like to think it looks pretty good. And, on top of that, it tells time.
5) Objectives. How else would I know where to go next?
6) Road trips (mostly to visit: breweries, quaint New England towns [in the fall], struggling cities with awesome attractions [e.g., the New Bedford Whaling Museum], or Montreal)

*I used to have "coffee" on here, but then I saw everyone more or less includes that on their list, so I'll just assume it goes without saying from here on out. I do enjoy coffee a lot, though.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Which Instagram filter is best. I’m also somewhat concerned about how we’re gonna deal with climate change.
On a typical Friday night I am
Well, first, see above about what people first notice about me. If not that, then having a drink with a couple friends or, more rarely, watching a movie. I don't need to go out on a Friday, but often do.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I spend way too much money replacing lost umbrellas.
