And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour...
Sincere, faithful, kind, gentle and charming are the words that spring to mind. I am a natural born leader, explorer and teacher. I have been called a gentleman, shining knight, angel and renaissance man numerous times in past, but will not bestow those titles upon myself. Though I will bestow the title of hopeless romantic.
I love learning and always try to find time and space for researching things, places, subjects. I do not like to sit for long periods of time. Travel, nature, cultures, art, architecture, food and music are close to my heart. I am a geography buff and amateur naturalist, so you will find me on the road often to new places that have intriguing natural environments to explore. Prefer to be close to the earth, but am at ease in social settings as well. I dress casual, but can easily convert to evening attire. I guess you can say I am well rounded, humble and worldly, and try to tread lightly in this life. Sustainable living is a focal point for me.
I grew up in an environmentalist family with a national forest as by backyard. Have attachment to being near water and avid sailor since age 8, but equally love mountains, forest and desert areas. Rarely watch television, and if do it will be primarily educational, PBS, TCM or Jon Stewart. You will never find me watching professional sports on TV, but perhaps the occasional luge, curling or x-country or sailing event. Enjoy day trips, sailing, hiking, exploring, camping, dining out, cooking, tennis, yoga, massages, libraries, flea markets, bookstores and more. Love visual arts, whether photography, artwork, sculpture, cinema ( almost exclusively classic, foreign, and documentaries ). Will be found reading reference books, technical manuals, how to, and travel, nature, environmental or history books 9 times out of 10. I try to lead a compassionate, conscientious, unobtrusive lifestyle. I do not aspire to fame, or need the latest "it" item. I appreciate the little rewards that life and the world present. I prefer face to face communication over telephone or other means.
Eclectic and varied interests in music. not withstanding rap, heavy metal or most country. 12 years as a vegetarian, but have recently fallen off the carrot cart, but working at getting back on. ( Hey, even the Dalai Lama isn't vegan or even vegetarian ). Still I prefer a diet heavy on the fruit and veggies, and love to experiment with new recipes in kitchen. Fond of Indian, Thai and Asian cuisines.
