My name's Justin, I'm a friendly, brainy, motivated kinda guy. I'm into ethnic foods, obscure art house movies, and exploring the city. I'm also trying to make up for a sedentary life by doing Crossfit way too much.

I recently started a video post-production company, so mostly I work from home, engineering blu-rays, and on the side I write about anime (Japanese animation). I moved to LA about 3 1/2 years ago, and am loving it, though after 10 years in NYC it was a bit of an adjustment. In my spare time I write and try to make stuff, but I'll stay quiet about that until I have something to brag about. I work out, I drive to San Gabriel Valley a few times a week to eat proper Chinese food, and I dig around on the internet for new bands. (I'm partial to electro-pop, but my tastes are all over the place.)

I'm a gigantic tech and video nerd, so I'm pretty handy with computers, both Mac and PC. I write, I cook a little, I know all the good restaurants, and I give a mean back rub. I'm always ready with a bitingly sarcastic comment that straddles the line of funny and offensive. I piss off easily offended people.

People say I'm tall, but 6'1" doesn't seem THAT tall, does it? I also get asked my ethnicity a lot. Does it matter? I'm half Chinese, half white mix. I don't know why people care so much.

Books: Tokyo Vice by Jake Adelstein, Aloft by Chang-rae Lee, Tekkonkinkreet by Taiyo Matsumoto, The Case for God by Karen Armstrong.

Movies: After Life, Network, Millennium Actress, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Tree of Life, Fish Tank. Also, tons of anime.

TV: kinda lost interest in most shows lately, but Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Parks and Recreation, Archer and tons of anime. 30Rock and Community used to be good...

Music: Lots of trance, even though I hate clubs. Chicane, Gui Boratto, Vanbot, Tanlines, M83, Rhye, Apparat, Roxette, Neon Indian, Yoko Kanno, Purity Ring, Santigold, Elite Gymnastics, Burial. Huge points if you know more than 2 of those.

Food: anything Asian ethnic, but special place in my heart for sushi, dim sum and Korean BBQ. I also have a weakness for particularly good pizza, but I try to avoid it because I have no restraint.

My Mac, my massive media collection, my juicer, my Crossfit gym, my air conditioner, and my iPhone.

hanging out with friends, or failing that, I'll watch a movie or TV show (the more obscure and artistic the better), go out to eat, or go wander and explore the area. Might go on really really long walks, which clears my head.

I own a copy of the Vanilla Ice movie, Cool As Ice. On Laserdisc. Best 25¢ I ever spent.

you're a smart, motivated and dedicated guy. Earnest ambition is my boner. People who make up their own minds about things, approach new ideas and art with an open mind, who work hard. Past that, I really don't have a "type", but really just someone who takes care of themselves.
