My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Executive Summary :: Part grown-up, part rebel -- talented, creative, artistic, into-healthy-living, educated, advertising/marketing professional -- and enjoy my work. Perpetually youthful, fearless thinker, mildly eccentric, sensitive, irreverent humor. Progressive and evolving -- ever in pursuit of the sublime and enlightenment.

Some Backstory :: I've made Oregon my home since '98. I love the peace of the outer areas, natural lushness, and the bustlings of Portland. I came here from San Francisco (10 yrs) where I had a small Graphic Design/Marketing firm -- Academy of Art Alumni. Grew up & have best buddies and family at Lake Tahoe, CA. So I am no stranger to camping, hiking, boating, & backpacking though my affinity these days is more urban.

On Passions :: I write and record alternative rock music -- play electric guitar, vocals and some bass. Love heading out into the Portland/Seattle music scene for inspiration. Urban-active activities: restaurants, art museum & galleries, theater, live music, comedy clubs, shop/bookstore mingling, people watching, clubs (usually goth/industrial), pool (more of a flounder than a shark though). Athletic: running, in-line skating, archery, working out, day hikes, bicycling (though I currently don't have a bike), skiing, skateboarding (was a hotshot back in the day), and just recently yoga & kundalini/tantric meditation. Outings: ocean drives, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Seattle are some old haunts but would love to explore more with a companion.

Some Quotes ::

"All of the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle." -- Francis of Assissi

"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours." -- Henry David Thoreau

"A free soul never grows old." -- In my fortune cookie on my 41st birthday.

"...look for the beauty, savor the world..."
-- c.b., aka Flying Dog (a magical retired art teacher I've been privileged to draw models with.)

“The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.”
― Pablo Picasso

"There is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophies. My brain and my heart are my temples; my philosophy is kindness." -- Dalai Lama

The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
They think I'm somebody famous from the '80's.... "...hey aren't you that singer for The Cars...? Did you play guitar for the Stones...?"

I've been told I'm complex yet elegantly simple, intense yet easy-going, exceptionally intelligent yet dingy, "sexy as hell" and "'re fine, but not *that* fine...", eccentric yet normal, bold and sensitive, goofy yet graceful, irreverent and respectful, boyish yet masculine -- so go figure...

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
To be honest here I don't do a whole lot of reading or movie/TV watching. In off time I'm usually involved with creating something -- paintings/drawings, song lyrics, music recording & mixing... When I am reading something it usually revolves around self-improvement, psychology, or creative interests (music theory & art...)

Books: • Anything with well drawn pictures and not to many words -- Drawing the Figure: Andrew Loomis, Pictures of Girls: Zak Smith, Dr. Seuss, Manga, MAD, Shel Silverstein. • Lots of words without pictures :: Anything by Robert Anton Wilson or J. Krishnamurti, anything by Sonaya Roman: Living With Joy: Personal Power Through Awareness, Creative Visualization, Personal Coach by Thomas Leonard, Masonic & secrete society & philosophical writings (mostly Manly P. Hall, H.P. Blavatsky) -- psychology/philosophy genre -- software manuals. Recently fascinated with history/practice of yoga, tantra, & kundalini meditation.

Movies: Sci-Fi, anything with Uma Thurman, Jodie Foster, Natalie Portman, V for Vendetta, Matrix, Black Swan, Blade Runner, Star Wars before the ridiculous ones came out, Unbearable Lightness of Being, Crime/psych thrillers with a twist, anything Michael Moore, anything that twists or expands my brain...

Music: The constantly expanding artist list could go on for days but current iPod load includes The XX, The Joy Formidable, Love & Rockets, Velvet Underground, Marilyn Manson, Garbage, Florence and the Machine, The Kills, NIN, Silversun Pickups, Sisters of Mercy, Jimi Hendrix, Handsome Furs, The Cranberries, Chumbawumba, Lana Del Rey, The Stranglers, Concrete Blonde, EBTG, Neko Case, Liz Phair, -- streaming groove, electronic/ambient, goth rock, sometimes classical or jazz.

Art: Recently a fan of Zak Smith and mounted several of his works for my place. Love the book Figure Drawing for All it's Worth by Andrew Loomis. Been doing life drawing sessions and working on new concept pieces in mixed media. Fav artists include the classic and some contemporary impressionists (Degas, Monet, Manet, R. Thompson,) -- also Dali, R. Crumb, M.C. Escher, Megrite.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What kinds of sounds cats would make if you juggled them... Ok, not really. Writing/performing music, political/social issues and current events, metaphysical concepts & history. Creative design projects. Ideas that would improve the world. Human psychology & philosophy.

I also think about this -- a lot:
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Snorting coke off a hooker's ass -- oh yeah, that's Saturday nights... wait...

Happy hour out with the posse at a dive bar or live band venue... Recording my next big hit... Art gallery show... Exploring the town with a friend... In the jacuzzi hot tub at my rec center... going for a run... Maybe just chill to rest up for Saturday adventures.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a nasty scar from an emergency appendectomy while vacationing in Mexico :( I actually enjoy the flavor of Spam :( I have an extensive secrete collection of fruit stickers (I eat fruit every morning) stuck under my desk at work. Just not into watching sports... especially on a nice day. I would infinitely rather be creating/doing something. I'm an Aries sun with Scorpio moon for those who find significance in such things ;)

Vanilla? I only order Vanilla when I can defile it with chocolate, caramel, nuts... and other hedonistic delights... I've found an open mind is a more creative one ;)
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 30–99
  • Located anywhere
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You'd like to head out for fun activities around town or have off the wall banter over drinks or java. You want to jam together (I have a good collection of gear I can share that will rumble any garage or warehouse). You like art & performance or you are an artist or performer (aren't we all in some way?) You feel sexy in your own skin and are constructive and progressive.

I value integrity and emotionally/ethically sustainable relationships. I embrace relationship diversity/fluidity. • Ever anticipating the Artist & Muse relationship/deep connection that enhances creativity and discovery -- building soulful companionship based on trust, respect, sensitivity, humor and support of growth. • You're good with not having (more) kids -- had that fixed several years ago after my daughter was born.

I know we all have our fantasies and pre-concieved notions about what we think our *ideal* mate/lover/companion *should* look like, sound like, behave like, have personality like, have beliefs/values like... So in exploring new people here -- I try to not get mind-tangled in pre-packaged imaginings and I welcome the unexpected uniqueness of individuals.
