I am a twenty year San Francisco resident who just moved back (Aug.
1) to the Bay area after a 13 month test drive of North Carolina.
It's good to be home.
I find beauty in the small and mundane. I like
watching wildlife-
birds and squirrels and groundhogs. I prefer wildflowers to flower
shop flowers (and if I like you, I'll pick them for you.) I would
rather sit on the porch and watch the rain pour down than hide from
it in a mall or movie theater.
I am very accepting, but not at all politically correct. I often
say what I think, regardless of whether it will shock or confuse
others.
I often see or hear things others don't notice. This makes me
really good at finding lost car keys and spotting exotic
wildlife.
I value honesty and commitment. I tell the truth and keep my
promises. Because of that I don't make promises lightly. I will
listen to what you say, and remember it.
I don't like greed, I think it is the biggest trouble with our
society. I am not rich, but I have never been in debt.
I have a
rescue greyhound and a
rescue
orange tabby. All animals seem to sense that I'm an easy mark,
so there are often some others who visit regularly.
I love
words and
word games, and
think scrabble or upwords makes for a good evening's fun. I like
doing the NYT Sunday crossword in pen. Appreciation and use of puns
and spoonerisms will impress me.
I love to
walk. It's
when i get my best thinking done, and keeps me grounded and in
touch with the world. I try to walk at least 3 miles a day or more.
I love
hiking, but
backpacking is a challenge due to an old back injury.
I'm not much for phone conversations. I like to either have time to
think about what I'm saying (email, chat) or be able to see who I'm
talking to (face to face, no webcam.)
I think my self summary is way too long and not funny enough.
Working as a full time pixel monkey. Exploring who I am evolving
into (early pixel man?)
Making movies.
Making cartoons. Living
really cheap because moving across the country-AGAIN-was really
expensive.
Anything I really put my mind to. I have run my own company,
written an award winning
book, directed and edited an award winning
short film,
hung a permanent show of
photo-collage in San
Francisco.
Teaching. I used
to teach at SF State and several smaller schools in the Bay Area. I
once got flown to Mumbai, India to teach a four day seminar.
I can
cook- Italian,
Indian, Costa Rican, Thai. I can
bake super tasty sweet confections, and
yummy healthy breads. Pizza, all from scratch, is a
specialty.
Making those I love, two-legged and four-legged, feel loved.
My height, I'm 6'4 and look it.
My eagerness to
answer questions. I almost
always have knowledge to share, and I like doing it. So much so
that it's not uncommon for me to come up with answers to rhetorical
questions.
My favorite books change all the time, but Robert Heinlein's "The
Moon is a Harsh Mistress" is way up there, lots of other
geeky SF too. And
Maurice Sendak's "Where The Wild Things Are" which has the best
opening line of any book ever: "The night Max wore his wolf
suit..."
My favorite movie is even harder, I'm a film maker. The first
favorite movie I ever had was "The Adventures of Robin Hood" with
Errol Flynn. These days I love everything from the Coen Bros. to
Andrei Tarkovsky to Batman.
Musically I am on a
seventies reggae kick right
now. I also love
early jazz and swing, and
80's punk
and ska.
I love
ethnic
food. Thai, Vietnamese, Mexican, Persian, Ethiopian, all of it.
Everything. How and Why.
Time, the flow of time, time travel.
How to make a feature film on no budget.
Thinking is one
of my favorite hobbies.
I have
tattoos of
my ex-kitties paw prints over my heart. They were inscribed with a
mixture of ink and ashes. The ashes were my ex-kitties.
You are sweet, smart and sexy. Or can fake it well.
You aren't afraid of
intelligence or
sex.
