I can be funny and witty in the right company and would rather read and learn than watch TV or aimlessly traipse around. My reading is eclectic – anything from Le Carre, Somerset Maugham, Graham Greene … to science, history, mathematics, and politics, with light reading thrown in for good measure. I usually exercise daily but am not fanatic about it. I dislike frenetic or meaningless activity.
As an analytic problem-solver, I would rather study and analyze a problem to find an optimal solution than jump in and muddle my way through; preferring brains to sweat. However, I don’t let anything come between me and results. My thinking is avant-garde in most respects. Consequently, I am not very conventional but prefer results to dogma. My personal philosophy is to do my best always and then not worry about what happens. If the results are not to my liking, I figure out why and do better next time. As a result, I am generally easy-going but can be intense when I need to be.
I am looking for the company of an interesting, affectionate, and caring woman. I have traveled extensively in many parts of the world and found nice people are nice people no matter what their nationality or origin. I am not conventional and am more concerned about the "inner person" and her thoughts and ideas than in her background or national origin. Intimacy is fun but only with the “right” person, boring otherwise. The woman I am looking for is kind, compassionate, and easy-going with a sense of humor; who works hard when needed but who can also laze around and relax when possible. One who appreciates a good pun or turn of phrase, comfortable with the world of thought and ideas, enjoys a formal setting but is just as comfortable in ragged jeans on a weekend. In other words, a woman who is a deep friend and all else that matters.
I moved to NE Portland to be with my son and his family and have since relocated to Beaverton which is close enough.
Incidentally, I should note I have osteoarthritis in both knees. While it slows me down and makes hiking to mountain tops somewhat more challenging than usual, I am up and around. That said, I am recovering mobility very fast, in part due to my (almost) daily exercise routines - I now ride my exercycle as often as I can, and follow it up with core exercises. It does wonders for my general health as well
Here is an excerpt from an analysis a colleague sent me:
Extremely active by nature, you like to get around, meet people and do different things. Very restless, you just can't seem to stay put. (My comment - I think this refers to my intellectual curiosity.) You need to be involved in several projects at once in order to keep your mind stimulated. You like to read books and to write letters and to talk -- constantly. Seemingly ageless, you will always appear to be much younger than you really are. Very adaptable and inquisitive, you are always open to new ideas and experiences. A "jack-of-all-trades", you are lively and versatile. Because of the high nervous tension that you always seem to have, athletic activity would be a good way for you to burn off energy. (My comment - I always thought I was laid back but that was probably because that is in comparison to what I used to be like – I have learned to control and subdue my Type A tendencies. Meditation does wonders.)
