I am smart, energetic, and passionate.

My Self-Summary

I'm a philosophy professor, the divorced mom of an 8-yr-old, a certified sommelier, and a sucker for a fun night out, especially if it involves good food. I'm culturally Jewish but a hard-core athiest.

What I’m doing with my life

Trying to get competent at riding my new motorcycle (a sweet little 2007 Yamaha Virago 250), working on book #3, teaching my students, loving my son and dogs, escaping to the ocean whenever possible.

I’m really good at

Anything academic, making people have fun, being a mother, arguing and wise-cracking, deluding myself into thinking I can change the world.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm really short! And I talk a lot and gesticulate a lot while I am talking - but I am shy at the very beginning so that may take a bit longer to come out.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Argh too many to list. I am an omnivore in all these categories.

The six things I could never do without

- my son
- my computer
- my iphone
- my friends
- my dogs
- good food and wine

On a typical Friday night I am

On half the Friday nights I am at home with my son, or out with him at some kid-friendly activity. On the other half, his father has custody of him, which means I am almost surely out having fun with friends - dinner out (I'm a huge foodie and love exploring restaurants), maybe a play or a movie or occasionally a baseball game, maybe some live music, maybe some dancing, and once in a while a true night of crazy debauchery - not too often, but often enough to let off some steam as needed.
