My self-summary
10/23/2012 - So mindkeep and I are pregnant! And I am writing my thesis. Thesis should be done by early January at the latest and the baby's not due until late March, but it needs to be said - I am officially probably not going to answer your message right now. You can still write to me if you want, and I read every message I get, but I mostly don't have time to write back or to meet people until the end of the semester.

Danielle. Feminist, pro choice, pro equality, pro LGBTQ/ human rights, pro animal rights, anti-censorship, somewhat socialist. Student, baker, story teller, lover of dried fruit, wannabe musician. Optimistic, stubborn, energetic, smart, loyal, unconventional, sort of spacy. Vegetarian, chocoholic, unitarian universalist(UUA.org), gemini, non monogamous / polyamorous, pansexual.

I like people, and I like learning about why they are the way they are. I tend to read lots of books on religion and spirituality, anthropology, sexuality and gender and the history of gender roles, psychology, the evolution of language, histories of ancient civilizations, etc.
What I’m doing with my life
Grad school! I'm in religious studies, working on Unitarian Universalism, feminism and immigration justice.

I'm mostly looking for friends as opposed to partners. I'm not sure how much free time I'll have to devote to people, and school is the priority. That said, if friendship naturally leads somewhere else, I won't be opposed, but if you're initially looking for someone to *date* as opposed to *someone to hang out with and talk to*, I might not be for you.

My main sweety is mindkeep, the best partner ever! We met here on OKC about 4 years ago. You should check him out, he'll give you all the dirt on me.
I’m really good at
Having zombie contingency plans, writing, chopping potatoes, slicing pie (I used to work at a pie diner!), and quoting media such as the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Futurama at random. Also, I'm a decent (if out-of-practice) mezzo-soprano and I can cut in a straight line if you'll lend me some good scissors.

No, I won't tell you my zombie contingency plans (and you are not the first to ask). This is about survival, people. Secrecy is imperative.
The first things people usually notice about me
If I am in a place where I expected to be social, then I am happy to meet you and you can probably tell! If you randomly recognize my OKC photo while we're both in the same grocery store or concert venue, I am happy to meet you but probably appear flustered and confused!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A) Books - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Adams, Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, Lethe by Tricia Sullivan , and Stranger Things Happen by Kelly Link. I like hard sci-fi with a feminist spin, well-written fantasy (especially urban), most things with footnotes, and speculative short fiction.

B) Movies - Sunshine, Perfume, Buffet Froid, The Fifth Element, Spaceballs, Ghostbusters, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Monty Python's Life of Brian, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Love and Death, Groundhog Day, Evolution

C) SO MUCH TV, Futurama, Farscape, Red Dwarf, Warehouse 13, Arrested Development, Better Off Ted, Invader Zim, Lexx, Doctor Who, Star Trek

D) Music - Tori Amos, Rasputina, Peter Gabriel, Mediaeval Baebes, Kate Bush, Type O Negative, Modest Mouse, Rusted Root, Queen, Neil Young, Joanna Newsom.

D) Food - Ovo-Lacto Vegetarian! chocolate, fruit, soy milk, carrots and hummus, dessert of any kind, whole wheat bread with figs and dates
The six things I could never do without
My piano, my voice, chocolate in any form, good friends and lovers, sunlight, and blowing up marshmallows in the microwave.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, the Universe, and Everything. Key changes. Emotional connections between and among people, how to form them, and how to keep them stable. Wormholes. Patterns of energy. What new ingredients I can try in my next batch of goodies. How I probably shouldn't eat this donut. What I'm doing next weekend. Health and wellness. Friends. Lovers.
On a typical Friday night I am
Since I just moved here, I don't have a "typical" Friday night yet. Often I am vegging after a long school week, watching a terrible sci-fi movie. Sometimes my friends have parties, sometimes I am catching up with people on Facebook and AIM until the wee hours of the morning, sometimes I am making lists of everything I have to do next week and organizing. Lots of times I am chasing the cats around the house.
I’m looking for
  • Guys and girls who like bi girls
  • Ages 21–40
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You think we might get along, want to show me around Boulder, and have mostly read this profile :) Bonus points if you live close by - I am looking for people to be friends with in real life, and don't have a car.

I am committed to honesty and integrity in all of my relationships with friends and lovers, and sincerely wish that anyone who chooses to message me values the same.

I won't answer IMs, my computer hates them. Message me instead.

No smokers please.

I do not respond to everyone who messages me. Sorry, but it's impossible, and I get a lot of jerks and copy-pasters. If you haven't already, please read this OKC blog post: Exactly What to Say in a First Message. It will give you a much better chance of getting a response from me. Just sayin'.

Fair warning: Most of the messages I get that are one sentence long (or less) are deleted. It's not enough for me to work with and plenty of people send me messages that they actually took time on and thought about. They trump your one liner.

Please note that I have not checked "Casual Encounters". "Non-monogamist" does not mean "total slut". (Well okay, it sort of does, but I am still not interested in having sex with you without, you know, getting to know you first.)
