I am intense, laid-back, and creative..
My Self-Summary
I'm a bit sarcastic and really dislike these "about me" things. I
don't know how to not sound like I'm trying to sell a car... eh,
here goes...
I just moved to Hamden this passed October.
I'm grew my hair out for Locks of Love and got used to having a
beard. As of 11/11/09 both are gone.
I am a wealth of obscure knowledge yet I suck at Trivial Pursuit. I
think it may have something to do with my attention span; I'd much
rather spend a night chatting but board games are always fun.
I'm considered a big guy, which I guess I am (I'm about the size of
the average defensive lineman). But I'm in the process of shrinking
down. I've put myself on an intense work out regimen to meet my
goal. Getting closer by the day.
I look for the best in a person. We've all had our challenges to
overcome and usually end up wiser. I've heard that mistakes make us
wiser too, could explain why I'm wise beyond my years.
I recently got the hiking bug. I'd read about the Sleeping Giant
State Park and decided to go shoot some pictures. I ended up hiking
up a steep trail and just fell in love with it. Now I've
incorporated it into my work out.
I want to be a writer and, preferably, be paid for it. I'm
currently working on accomplishing that goal.
I took up painting late last year and look forward to doing a lot
more of it.
I've always had a sincere interest in most people.
I love running around the city and photographing random things that
evoke some kind of response.
I often find that the only way I know where I'm going is when I get
there. Sometimes once I get there I feel the need to be
elsewhere.
I've come to the conclusion that life is about experiences. Our
destination is the same. Our time is finite but it's what we do now
that matters. So why not create a life full of memories with
someone special.
As far as my tastes go, I'm interested in MANY things. I love the
visual arts, music (from punk to hip-hop to country to classical),
film, literature, sports, cars, cooking, travel, etc...
I must say that I'm a fairly open person. If you want to know, just
ask.
I am very passionate about certain things, just flip the switch and
I'll talk your ear off.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to figure it out.
My brother is in the Coast Guard and left for 7 months so I
volunteered to come help his wife out with the kids. So I gave up
the bar manager and real estate jobs, I really needed a change in
my life, and here I am. I figure while I'm here I'll be sharpening
my photography skills; writing a book; getting back in shape, and
trying to just have fun while working somewhere. Now, if I could
find where I'm going to work, I'd be too happy.
I’m really good at
A great many things, some wouldn't be proper to mention. I'm good
with finances but am not good at budgeting mine. I'm a great talker
and motivator. I'm good at caring but might seem aloof. I'm good at
making people feel good and it's from a genuine place that I do
it... or so I've been told; I don't give it much thought. Being
honest. I give great advise but am not the best at taking it. I'm
pretty good at hosting and making people feel included. And did I
mention that could make you blush? ;-)
The first things people usually notice about me
I don't know, ask them.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I have a great many favorites, I just find it hard to pick one or
two.
Books: One Flew Over The Cookoo's Nest, Band Of Brothers, anything
by Kahlil Gibran, Warrior of The Light by Paulo Coelho (it was a
going away gift from a friend), The Art of War, Good Omens, etc...
I've been reading a ton of management/ business books lately.
Music: Punk, classic, 90' alt, rockabilly, hard rock, good ol'
fashioned rock & roll, some hip hop & rap, folk/ bluegrass,
etc... You know, things like Flogging Molly, Pennywise, Bad
Religion, Pink Floyd, Nick Cave, Antony & the Johansens,
Leonard Cohen, Concrete Blonde, NIN, Ladytron, Social Distortion,
The Who, The Smiths, and the such...
Movies: Citizen Kane, Casablanca, Layer Cake, 28 Days Later, Leon
The Professional, Band Of Brothers, We Were Soldiers, Serenity, and
so many more to list.
Food: Mexican (I lived in Mexico City for six years), middle
eastern, Thai, pretty much anything.
The six things I could never do without
My cameras, phone, a vehicle, film, music, and art. Obviously the
generic, family, friends, air, water, etc... apply.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life and what to do with mine. How the hell am I going to navigate
this area, there's no logic to these streets! What kind of job
should I get and where? How am I going to make friends if the only
people I'm meeting are my brother's friends who are married with
kids. The next great film. How much I have to teach my niece and
nephew. What I should cook for dinner. How awesome it would be to
be on a beach in Mexico right now. The usual stuff.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working out. Sometimes I get to write over a glass of tequila,
scotch, or wine. If not, I most likely watch a movie and putz
around on the computer.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
That's for you to find out. Ask me, I'll tell you... eventually.
;-)
You should message me if
I sound like your brand, you have a sense of humor, and feel like
it... Let's grab some coffee or a drink and figure it out.
