I am sweet, eclectic, and intiutive.

My Self-Summary

Well, let's see... I grew up in MD, went to school in NC, and now live and work in CA. I work in high-tech largely because I get bored easily and because I like to buy toys, which apparently requires cash.

I own a dog whom I adore and brings me daily joy.

My more recent diversions include home-improvement, playing guitar, cooking, tinkering with my car, and gardening. This also provides a means of exercise without pointless movement. :) My house is an Eichler; bonus points if you know what that is and double plus bonus points if you're also a fan of modern/modern contemporary architecture.

No, I'm not big on chrome, Formica, or orange.

I'm pretty laid back. I like to make jokes and humorous remarks on an ongoing basis; I appreciate people who have a good sense of humor or are at least polite enough to snicker at my material.

What I’m doing with my life

Working. Too much, probably, but I make time for the things and people I care about. Besides work, I enjoy going to exciting restaurants, wine tastings, home improvement, and occasional travel. Most recently, I have enjoyed trips to Paris, Bermuda, and Cabo.

Professionally, I am a Systems Engineer at a VOIP software company. If you don't know what that means, that's OK -- we're still figuring that out, too. ;-) I like finding and solving problems, particularly in the areas of systems, performance, and networking.

I lost my father in September 2008... this event and its fallout set me on a course of self-exploration and self-actualization that I think is still just beginning. It's been both scary and refreshing to meet myself again, choosing to make changes, and making change happen. :)

I’m really good at

Cooking, choosing (and drinking) wine, computer-related things, making people laugh, running on way too little sleep, enjoying a variety of perversions :)

The first things people usually notice about me

I try to laugh a lot, so hopefully people notice my smile and/or cunning sense of humor. :)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

(a) Ender's Game, sundry Shakespeare, Godel Escher Bach, Origin of Species

(b) Pulp Fiction, Momento, The Usual Suspects, Red Sun Rising, Kill Bill I/II

(c) Classic rock, metal, trance/electronica, certain pop, alternative, generally Russian classical music

(d) French and Asian cuisine in general, foie gras, pasta and rice dishes (I'm a total carb fiend), dark chocolate, fuji apples, fresh pine nuts

The six things I could never do without

Freedom/liberty, love, best friends, good food and wine, close and loyal friends, enough income to properly enjoy my time

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What to do next.

On a typical Friday night I am

Grilling a dry-aged, grass-fed ribeye on my kick-ass grill.

Barbeque is not a verb.

You should message me if

If you've made it this far down on the page :) I like to enjoy myself and share that time with people I care about -- pretty much everything else is negotiable.

Things excite you. You have ambition. You like spicy food. Long hair is a plus. You like dogs (or at least my dog). You'll let me open the occasional door for you.

A healthy love of power tools is a bonus. :)
