My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Not looking to date anyone, but I would enjoy meeting people.

I think a better entry for my religion would be "Judaism and laughing with it." A drunk Argentine once told me I had tango in my soul, and I take that as an authoritative source.

Some of the more fun things I've gotten involved in:
- Running one bike co-op, advising the creation of another, occasionally stopping by a third...and I think you get the idea.
- Getting myself into one of Carl Zimmer's books.
- Leading a jazz combo: We were called "The Oil For Jazz Programme" because, you see, we were invited to play for a model UN conference...
- Helping build a giant banquet bike. Imagine 8 people at a banquet table, all pedaling together and enjoying a nice meal. We got the award for the best entry in the Pasadena Doo-dah parade this past year.

I've got a Erdos-Bacon number of 10.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am currently working on my PhD and doing some research with NASA. I'm considering my options after that; I could see myself doing research, teaching or some other form of science outreach, or getting involved in science policy. Right now I'm slightly leaning towards the latter option.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Yelling at people through a megaphone while riding my bike. In a tuxedo.
Breaking out into singing Tom Lehrer (mostly with one other fellow. We've gone through much of his work, so perhaps I need to bone up on my Gilbert and Sullivan).
Devouring a tin of dolmas.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My facial hair.

Probably better to list what I'm reading/have recently read. In no order: A Man of Misconceptions, The Prophets of Smoked Meat: A Journey Through Texas Barbeque, Periodic Tales: A Cultural History of the Elements, The Death and Life of Great American Cities, Chasing the Rising Sun, It's Complicated: The Social Lives of Networked Teens, Tesla: Inventor of the Electric Age, Maus, and the New Yorker.

Movies: Sita Sings the Blues, Dr. Caligari (both the original and the 1980's version), Kontroll, Triplets of Belleville, The Fog of War, Kin-Dza-Dza!, scanning through the Everything is Terrible site.

Radio: The Risk, Political Junkie, and The Bugle are consistent favorites. And then there's Radio Free Oz/Firesign Theatre: I got a nice, satisfied feeling whenever I passed the CVS on Figueroa in LA knowing that it once was Jack Poet's Volkswagen.

Music: Firewater, Flat Earth Society, Girl in a Coma, Bobby Lounge, N.A.S.A., Hazmat Modine, Peterfy Bori and Love Band, Charles Mingus, Dubioza Kolektiv, Yat-Kha, and Baba Brinkman.

Shows: The Daily Show, The IT Crowd, Look Around You. And a dose of Max Headroom for good measure.

Food: Oh cumin--what joy you bring into this world of ours. I cannot think of a single cuisine that involves cumin which I do not enjoy. I also love Marmite - to the point that I purchased a Marmite bicycle jersey for myself. I have yet to find a cycling jersey extolling the virtues of cumin but, if I did, I'd probably buy it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A proper stove
My bikes (previously multiplying, now down to two again)
Access to a mill and lathe
My cats
Beer on a Friday afternoon
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I dream that the Huy Fong Foods factory is a spicy version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

You know how to weld, or would like to join me for some blacksmithing classes.

You're up to date on your soul vaccinations.
