My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm not very good with summarizing myself. If you want to know anything about me, drop me a line.

My friends characterize me a hipster. Not going to justify or defend it.

I may be a computer scientist (and I love the field), but I feel that if I was ambitious/smart enough to follow one of my dreams, I would want to direct films. I'm hoping to get into it as a hobby in the near future when I have a bit of money to fuel it with.

I used to be really into artificial intelligence and language, and nowadays I'm just trying to enjoy myself instead of come up with the next big thing.

I recently started getting into making bread. Got tips?

I just realized that most of my photos here involve me wearing sunglasses. Unfortunately, I don't have many regular photos of myself available.

Also, I'm a little bit of an introvert.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
From the south side of Chicago, graduated from UIUC, moved to San Francisco about a year ago, working as a software engineer for a tech company and trying to make good use of my camera. In my effort to ramp up the number of activities I'm involved in, I've recently started going paintballing more often while also making a futile attempt to [re-]learn guitar.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making videos, programming, cooking, math, procrastinating, and picking out a good beer/wine.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Most likely my curly hair and that I look like a hipster.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books:
I love science fiction, some classic lit, but I think I most enjoy non-fiction. I'll try most things, except post-Tolkien fantasy. The best book I've read in recent memory is Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood.

Movies:
I absolutely love movies. Like, I'm really into the art form. Have you seen The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford? I love that movie, and most people can't figure out why.
The Academy Awards are my Super Bowl (discounting the fact that I also do watch the Super Bowl).
My favorite movie of 2013 is Her because 1. Spike Jonze, and 2. who doesn't enjoy watching Joaquin Phoenix talk to himself?
Final note, I love me some Kubrick, Kurosawa, and Goddard, but I think my favorite movie of all time is The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

TV:
I watch a lot of TV that's crap, but I know what's good.
Examples currently running - Community, Glee, True Blood, Game of Thrones, New Girl, Parks&Rec, Mad Men
Favorites - Arrested Development, Seinfeld, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek: Deep Space 9, 30 Rock
Also, I need to get into Breaking Bad at some point.

Music:
I'm really into bluesy stuff and rap, but I like things from all over, except country. Here are a few.
- The White Stripes/Jack White, The Black Keys, The Beatles, MF DOOM, Ghostface Killah, Kanye West, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, The Arcade Fire, Iggy Pop (The Stooges)

Food:
I'm not that big a fan of Thai, but everything else is fair game. I especially like shawarma.

Sometimes I play video games. Currently, I'm mostly playing Pikmin 3 which happens to be pretty awesome.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
- Some kind of computing device. What can I say? I'm addicted.
- My camera. I love taking photos, even if most of them are crappy.
- Glasses. This one's fairly obvious.
- Beer/Whiskey. I love a good beer, but lately I've been in a deep whiskey groove. It can be much more interesting than beer at times.
- Coffee. I'm actually physically addicted to caffeine. I'll get withdrawal headaches.
- Movies. Film is the most digestible and expressive art from when it comes to me.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Photography, how close to science fiction-y our world really is, how I'm going to get all my work done, and lots of other weird stuff. I also think a lot about programming projects, new ideas, and scripts for short films I'll never make. I'm always looking for a good idea.

Why does it seem that everyone in the Bay Area is really into climbing?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out with friends drinking or singing karaoke, watching a movie, working on video projects. But whatever I say here doesn't really count because I'm usually watching tv or sleeping I feel.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
At work, I generally listen to crappy, loud pop music, in contrast to my outward facing music snobbery. It's a guilty pleasure. Also, it blocks out distractions and makes me get into a groove of work. Also, Taylor Swift understands me, okay?
