Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Do you remember those Scholastic book catalogues you used to get in
school when you were younger? I loved browsing through those and
circling the books that I wanted to get, then trying to figure out
a way to convince my mom to buy them for me.
I'm pretty sure I never stopped doing that. I buy them on my own
now, but thanks for helping out before, Mom! Not just with books,
but with life in general. I love finding new adventures to go on,
new places to visit, and new books to read. It's even more fun to
write stories of my own, and to make it real to the person reading
my words. They might never have experienced what I'm writing about,
but now they can picture it perfectly through my eyes. It's not
just my story anymore, it's theirs, too.
That's me in a nutshell.
Oh, and hey, my name is Josh :)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a USA Today bestselling author. I also own and manage my own
small publishing house, and work with a variety of other authors
I've written and published over 80 books, 22 of which are available
as paperbacks and audiobooks (the rest are e-book only).
Mostly I write romance novels under a couple of pen names. It's a
really fun career and it's something I've always wanted to do. One
of my favorite parts is traveling for research purpose, haha. My
next big trip will be to the Romance Writers of America convention
in New York City at the end of July. I've been to NYC, but never
the RWA convention, so I'm looking forward to it.
Anyone free at the end of July and want to go on a crazy romance
convention adventure with me? :P
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm especially good at sight-seeing.
I'm really good at solving puzzles and thinking outside the box.
Some of my ideas are a little crazy, but sometimes it's the crazy
ideas that are amazing, right?
I'm good at researching and planning things, and finding out how to
make things work in the best way possible. I'm also good at
discovering strange and obscure information, haha. I like to add
little random trivia pieces into my books sometimes, so I think it
works out pretty well.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I'll just stick with a few, or else we'll both be here all
The Princess Bride
Tears of Tess
The middle 3 Kushiel's Legacy books
Anything with Rachel McAdams
Or Johnny Depp
Also Amanda Seyfried
And then The Goonies
Arrow and The Flash
Sons of Anarchy
The Walking Dead
I'm pretty open and flexible as far as food and music goes, but I
really love spicy food upbeat, happy songs.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Starry night skies
Sunrises on the beach
An adventurous spirit
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I think a lot about what kind of "story" a book is. Like Fifty
Shades of Grey is basically a Cinderella Story, right? What about
stories like Beauty and the Beast, or Romeo & Juliet?
I also spend a lot of time trying to think of more "core stories,"
too. Like if you say something is a Cinderella Story, everyone
basically knows what you mean, you know? Same with the other two I
mentioned before, but I know there's got to be at least a few
I think Tristan and Iseult should be one, but I don't know if
that's well known enough. Still a great story, though.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'm more of a quiet and relaxed sort of person. Not too into bars
or clubs, but they can be fun sometimes. Ideally, I'd just like to
go for a walk somewhere, check out a movie, or take a drive to look
at the stars and listen to some music.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
Definitely message me if you've got any good book recommendations,
or if you'd like some good book recommendations.
I could use a travel buddy for romance research trips, but I think
we should maybe go get a coffee first. It still counts if we get a
coffee right before getting on the airplane, right? :P
I'm always looking for more science jokes, too! Or math jokes.
Those two are my favorite, haha.
I may also need a skydiving partner for this summer... I've never
been, but I'm really really itching to go, and I think it'd be fun
