My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
How's it going? My name is Josh.

These things are always pretty tricky, because I feel like when you talk about yourself, you either sound like a huge, arrogant jerk or you get nervous and don't know what to say or don't want to brag, so then you sound dull.

Thankfully, I'm not a huge, arrogant jerk, nor am I dull! Yes! I consider this a huge success.

I should probably end it at that, but here is a teaser of things to come...

I'm a little strange, sometimes goofy. I like to smile. I'm a little (or a lot) fascinated with books. I like to explore and see new things, but it doesn't have to be too crazy.

I'm sure I'd like to talk with you, but again, this sort of thing is kind of tricky. Guys are supposed to send the first message, right?

I have a way around it, though, so don't worry. If you don't know what to say, just ask me to send you a first message.

Good deal, right? It's a win/win all around.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.

(I told you I'm fascinated with them, so I figured I'd make it into a career. Makes it a little more acceptable, you know? Gives me an excuse to have a ton of bookcases, at the very least)

In all seriousness, I work for a small publishing house, where I edit, help create covers, do market research, promotional event planning, and so on. I also write my own books.

I could say more, but, as was mentioned above, I just don't want to sound like a huge arrogant jerk, so I'm going to leave it as a bit of a mystery...

I promise it's neat, though. Once we get to know each other better and you know I'm not a huge, arrogant jerk, I'll tell you more.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
This is rough. It kind of reminds me of a school essay. Which, I should add, I don't think I was very good at.

Let's come back to this one. Maybe over coffee? Then we can be awkward together. No pressure, right?

What do you think?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I'm possibly the worst at lists like this, because I really have no idea.

I'm quite a fan of books. They are interesting. Genres might be better? I like fantasy sometimes, or YA dystopian which is kind of fun (like The Hunger Games). I only like some science fiction, mostly like Dune or goofy things like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I have been known on occasion to secretly enjoy a romance novel or two, but I won't be telling you that so pretend you didn't read this sentence.

Movies and shows are probably the same. I just started watching The 100, which is great so far. I try to watch The Walking Dead every week when I can. I was watching Once Upon a Time but it started to drag on a bit so I took a break. I'll come back to that one. I really enjoy The Goonies and The Notebook.

I like music. I'm really bad at this one, because I honestly couldn't tell you what kind of music I like. Happy music, I guess? Is that a music genre?

Food is always appreciated.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Again with the school essays. Also we're veering into that huge, arrogant jerk or dull person territory again.

I've also seen people try to beat the system by mentioning food, oxygen, shelter, water, and all of that. I mean, I guess that's true, so they might have a valid point.

Let's talk about this one later. Not over coffee, since we already have coffee plans (see above), but... this seems like a good "long walk on the beach" type of conversation. Preferably barefoot. Alternatively, maybe going for a hike or a walk on a trail.

Needless to say, not yet but maybe later?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.

Outer space? I think it's probably pretty awesome and interesting up there, but I've never been so I don't know for sure. Just seems like a neat place.

I'd like to build a fully sustainable house some day, complete with rain collection system and solar panels. I feel like that'd be fun. I'm working on it, so I'll let you know how it goes.

I already mentioned books a couple times, so let's skip that one.

I'm sure there's some more things somewhere in there. This is getting complicated. We're going to have to talk about this more to narrow it all down.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Whoa whoa whoa, that's a little personal, don't you think?

Well, I don't know. Do you want to go do something? Could be fun.
You should message me if

This is a good question.

I mentioned this above, but I think guys are the ones who are supposed to send first messages most of the time. So if you want me to do that, just ask. Super simple, easy for everyone involved, right?

No! You'll do it! You don't need me to send the first message, because you can do it yourself. And I think that's pretty awesome. It's hard sometimes, you know?

Let's just talk about something fun. Here's a few options, just in case.

Where's your favorite place to go?
Have you ever been to Disney World?
Last book you read that you enjoyed? Or movie?
Know of any fun things to do around here that are different from the same old regular stuff?
