I am down-to-earth, funny, and analytical.
My Self-Summary
I moved to San Diego to do a Master's program, and now that I've
graduated, I've decided to stick around for a bit. I love to travel
and try/cook food from all over the world. My friends and family
are very important to me, and I've realized that humor is a crucial
element for me in any relationship, friendly or otherwise. I'm
usually shy or really nervous when I first meet people, which
according to some comes off as disinterest... but fear not, thats
just me being awkward, which I also do very well. Not much of a
small-talker, and a terrible flirt unless I really make an effort
or have had a lot of coffee. But once I feel more comfortable I can
definitely hold up my end of a conversation.
What I’m doing with my life
Hopefully someday I will be a program manager for an international
non-profit, but for now I work in public health research, which I
really find meaningful. I just hope I can go through the next few
years without losing any of the fun statistics, accounting and
finance I struggled to learn getting my masters. 'Cause I like
being able to do those fancy things, makes me more "employable."
I’m really good at
Cooking for my friends, singing along to the car radio, making
obscure references to commercials, speaking in accents...
I'm also pretty good at tolerating somewhat sketchy or absurd
situations, probably from putzing around in Mexico for a few years.
The first things people usually notice about me
Eyes, smile... ethnic ambiguity. Or my earrings. Whatevs.

The six things I could never do without
I recently lost a piece of luggage that had a lot of the material
things I cherished in it. It got me to thinking about attachments I
had to people, some of which are no longer part of my life, that
were being carried on through things I continued to treasure.
Despite this semi-deep thought, there are a few things I can't do
without (kind of in order, and after water, food and shelter on
Maslow's hierarchy of needs):
1. Family
2. Friends
3. Coffee... or beer.
4. Traveling (screw you American Airlines!)
5. Music/my Paracho guitar
6. ..... I think thats all I got. Self actualization? Netflix? The
Internets?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...how I can turn my backyard into a horticultural
masterpiece.
...how I can get data for ________ to solve me some global
quandaries.
...what I can make for dinner with what I have in the
cupboard.
... code-switching.
...where I will travel to next.
On a typical Friday night I am
Making dinner for my friends, having drinks and/or going out
dancing... or not. I do what I want! :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I am really entertained by LOLcats. And "thats what she said"
jokes, in moderation.
