My self-summary
In a nutshell: I'm short, determined, articulate, funny, loyal, compassionate, fierce and tactless.

Other than that?

My friends and my family are the most important things in my life. I'm very lucky to have some truly interesting ones.
I prefer sincerity to irony.
I'm more than a bit of a romantic. Conversely, I'm also deeply practical and value utility.
My sense of humour is often rather sly, but when it's not - it's dry.
I want to learn to speak Italian, and move to southern Italy, where I will exist on gelato, neapolitan coffee, and limoncello. Failing that, I'd like to improve my abysmal French and move to Quebec city, which is stunningly beautiful.
Actually, I'd like to move anywhere. I love this town, but I'm starting to get itchy feet.
I'd like to believe that I'm emotionally well-adjusted. At least, I'm working on it. That means that you have to try to be, too.
Semicolons are awesome. Anyone who owns a style manual will be good in my books. That being said, you don't actually have to own a style manual. Basic literacy is, however, a non-negotiable prerequisite.
What I’m doing with my life
I went back to school last fall, and now I'm halfway to becoming a nurse. Since school has let out for the summer, I'm back to being a professional potter for the next few months. Otherwise, I'm busy loving up my friends and family all the spare minutes in between.
I’m really good at
being incredibly modest???

Okay, so I don't believe in false modesty. I think it's bit of a personality defect, actually. You don't have to parade it, but baby, lift the bushel off of the light.

That being said, I'm really good at hugs, being earnest, cooling off quickly after a fight, making breakfast, making fancy coffee, dancing backwards, sharing, teaching pottery. And a few other things, besides.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I have opinions. I'm sure of it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
If I were to have a favorite book list, it might include The Once and Future King (T.H. White), the Earthsea Trilogy (Le Guin), The Windup Bird Chronicles (Murakami), My Family and Other Animals (Durrell), The Difficulty of Living On Other Planets (Lee). But I don't have a favorite book list, because it's difficult to love one book more than another. I love to read.

I don't really tend to watch a ton of tv or movies. It's not that I don't like the moving picture thing, it's just that I forget that I like them. But tv shows I have loved over the last few years include Rome, The Borgias, Avatar the Last Airbender, The Tudors, Game of Thrones. I've never actually owned a tv - I just stream the occasional episode on my clunky old laptop.

Music is terrific. I have an appreciation for lots of different kinds - hip-hop, rock'n'roll, old punk, alt-country, actual country, old country, non-electric blues, indie, folk, opera, pop. Nothing auto-tuned. And I'm not a huge fan of electronica, to be perfectly honest - I prefer my music live.

And, you know, food. Food is good. I make a killer salad dressing. I'm damn good at pizza, flat or Chicago-style, you pick. Only okay at sushi. Slightly better at carbonara. Also okonomiyaki. Extra flaky pastry is a favorite - I love making meat pies. And fruit pies. I make my own tortillas? The truth is, I love to cook. It's a good thing that I have some really terrific people in my life who are more than happy to let me cook for them, because otherwise I'd survive on a steady diet of salad, toast, and boiled eggs.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Hum. I spend a whole lot of time thinking about sex, to be perfectly honest. The rest of the time it's kind of a fine balance between solving world hunger and solving my own hunger. Y'know?
On a typical Friday night I am
with friends, neither working nor studying, agonizing about a) the pots that are probably drying out on my workbench in the studio and b) the test I have on Monday morning.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I love living in small cabins with no electricity, no running water, and A-frame outhouses. I dream of moving back to the Kootenays on a regular basis. The only thing that's preventing me is my abiding hatred of hippies. Not granola types - I'm pretty crunchy myself, upon occasion - but the kind who change their names to things like 'Windsong,' dread their hair, take psychotropic drugs in order to achieve spiritual growth (without practicing any self-reflection, or god forbid, actual self-WORK), say they're only into free love and polyamory, and haven't the sense that god gave a gnat. If you've ever been to Nelson BC, you know what I mean.

I've always had a thing for intellectuals. And men that work with their hands. And so my ideal man is, quite probably, a hairy-chested fellow who quotes Derrida, drives a beat-up work truck, votes center to left, is unpretentious, genuine, funny, empathetic, has a love of the arts and an appreciation for mouthy women, likes pottery, and knows how to dance. Major personality defects will be not only tolerated, but immediately forgiven for an individual who exhibits all or most of the aforementioned qualities. But really, it's not like I'm all that picky or anything. If you have even one of these qualities in abundance, I'd be happy to hear from you!
