My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm passionate about education, languages, current events, social justice, and building a community that we can be proud of.

I've been somewhere in Texas since I was three years old. At this point I'm way more Texan than Georgian, although I don't think I have either accent... unless you ask me to pronounce or hear the difference between "pin" and "pen."
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm teaching English to adults. It's fun! It's rewarding! I've got students who speak Spanish, Korean, Turkish, Arabic, Russian, and Portuguese, and I love learning about my students' home cultures and their experiences here in this country. I advocate for my students whenever I can, and I celebrate their successes.

In my free time I'm camping, reading, trying to dance. I want to get back into Improv classes. I play cello some, and love finding people to play with.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
building on other people's ideas and creating things... solutions to problems, poems, lessons, improvised songs. I love working with people.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
glasses, white guy, if the person is tall then she can see that my hair is getting pretty thin.

Books by Kurt Vonnegut, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Juan Rulfo, Mario Vargas Llosa, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchet...

Movies: City of the Lost Children, Amores Perros, The Big Lebowsky, Howl's Moving Castle. I just saw Our Man in Havana, and it was hilarious.

Local Music: Atosh, Bamako Airlines, White Ghost Shivers, Brave Combo (not Austin, but Texas)

From farther afield... La Santa Cecilia, Dvorak, Bach cello suites, Stevie Wonder, Café Tacuba, Aesop Rock, Neutral Milk Hotel, Pixies, Sonic Youth, Fats Waller, Thelonious Monk, Los de Abajo, MC Solaar, Ceschi, Os Mutantes, Bob Wills, the Beatles... I'm always open to hearing new musicians and bands. I share the list not because I judge others on the music they like, but because I enjoy getting ideas for things to listen to from other people's lists.

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
education, politics, what makes people tick.

you want to. I love getting messages from people on here, and I tend to like strong women who put themselves out there. If you have a book, play, or song to recommend, that makes it even better! I'm back on here after a short time away, and I think I have a better feeling for how OKC can facilitate interesting, real interactions.
