I am passionate, psychic, and extroverted.

My Self-Summary

I consider myself sapiosexual; I'm more interested in the person than the plumbing. I'm also more interested in friends than lovers at this time in my life. Besides, I tend to limit my dating pool to people I trust as a friend.

Old IT geek, strong interest in psychology and counseling. Polyamorous, but more interested in friendships than relationships at the moment -- I have two spice, a daughter and am learning to teach crochet.

I'm a Science Fiction fan, have been one long enough to know what SMOF and "fen" mean, and remember when SciFi was a derogatory term. I have to admit, I still don't like it much. Cut my teeth on Asimov, Niven, and Heinlein. Later moved on to more fantasty oriented stuff, and am quite fond of Tanya Huff, Mercedes Lackey (although her production rate has hurt her quality, IMO), Anne McCaffery, Connie Willis, Alan Dean Foster Terry Pratchett] aka Pterry, and several others. Niven and Asimov are still close to my heart, though, especially Niven. He once signed my car, which had a license plate that read "TANJ". I enjoy SF Cons.

Wiccan, very spiritual. I am a minister of a Wiccan church and ordained through that church. Your religion is not important; I'll respect yours and not try to convert you; please do the same for me. Also a pretty strong Witch, and no, the two terms are not synonymous.

Disabled, size/disability activist. Hairy-legged feminist. Who you are is more important than what you look like or what your size is or what is "different" about you. I make my best effort to practice unconditional love, which to me means accepting the whole of a person and understanding their limitations and strengths, and trusting them to be exactly who they are. Really big on honesty, although I do temper that with tact and diplomacy.

I'm a stellar and creative cook; with the unusual dietary requirements in my home (food allergies and other issues) I have become adept at modifying recipes and off the cuff cooking.

What I’m doing with my life

Teaching crochet. Running the Wiccan church I founded in 1991. Raising my daughter and feeding my family. Geeking out on the computer, hanging out at LJ. Seriously considering going Goth along with my husband and daughter. Currently applying for SSDI -- haven't worked since 2001, and the disabilities make it unlikely I can return to work. And I'm too old, stale, and overeducated to return to the career I know. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April of 2007.

I’m really good at

Crochet, pastoral counseling, computer geeking, cooking, reading, officiating at religious events (weddings, funerals, etc.), organizing things no one else wants to, giving a talk, running a ritual, or officiating at a ceremony off the cuff.

The first things people usually notice about me

I walk with a cane or am in a wheelchair, I'm fat, I have a graying ash brown buzz cut, and an amazing smile. My strong personality tends to make me seem about 6" taller than my actual 5'4" height. Extreme extrovert, shy around virtually no one, empathic enough to be accused of being a "mind-reader."

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Favorite books: too many -- SF; some fantasy; some popular psych books; Eats, Shoots and Leaves.

Favorite Movies: SF again -- or comedy that isn't slapstick. I have an especial fondness for Wallace and Gromit and Tim Burton plasticine movies, and tend to list Princess Bride, Labyrinth, and Grosse Pointe Blank when pressed, but it's more general than that.

Favorite Music: Progressive/alternative rock, dance, industrial, house, Celtic and other world music, drumming, and new age. Classical is OK too, except for opera (Unless it's Gilbert & Sullivan!).

Favorite Foods: Sushi! Oriental, Greek, and Italian, and I can cook them all. Allergic to chilis, leaving several cuisines out of my reach. I'll try anything I'm not allergic to once; twice if I'm not sure. I cook from scratch most of the time.

The six things I could never do without

My family. My Bassets. A roof over my head. Love. A purpose in life. My friends.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Politics; religion; animal rescue; new and interesting things to cook; disability and size activism; crocheting and teaching crochet;.

On a typical Friday night I am

Either at a Wiccan ritual or home on the Web. On special occasions, out at a club or for dinner.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have PTSD from a former abusive marriage.

You should message me if

You want to know me better as a friend; want to learn to crochet; have questions about Wicca and/or Witchcraft; want to talk about breast cancer; are not looking for cyber/phone sex.
