My self-summary
For people who don't know me well they can find me quiet. I generally do not venture an opinion on topics until I am fairly sure I know what the viewpoint of the other person/s is. That makes me a good listener, I guess. I am very laid-back in attitude, in that I am happy to listen to any opinion without 'attacking' back, whether or not it goes completely against my ideals. I always try to understand other viewpoints whether they be nice or completely criminal. I can happily lounge back without talking for minutes or even hours. This also goes back to if I have nothing to say, I generally won't say anything. Many of my interests are fairly 'niche' and on subjects of celebrities, television shows, sport, and music, which are by far the most common these days, I will often simply listen rather than venture anything. It doesn't mean I am disagreeable or not enjoying myself, I am simply being myself, content to listen. Because of these attitudes I have an overly broad perspective on life compared to most people I guess. I am much more inclusive and willing to accept differences; in nation, in race, in language, in ability than seems to be the norm. Don't expect anything from me in terms of concepts like national 'pride' and 'identity' that people seem to put a lot of value in.
What I’m doing with my life
Studying and working. Onto my third degree right now, and looking at becoming a teacher.
I’m really good at
Listening, thinking, definitely not studying. Strange when you consider how much education I have done. I am good at reading (is that something to be good at?). I also on occasion practice martial arts, though not really sure you would say I am good at it.
The first things people usually notice about me
A huge man moving towards them, frightening the bejesus out of them. Or so I am told.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Hmmm... music isn't really my thing, I find it tends to distract me unless I am doing nothing else, which is pretty rare. Usually only really listen to it on trips or when cleaning. Will listen to anything, from death metal to sucky love songs.

Books are something I read a fair bit, from your trashy 99c Kindle fantasies to your Ursula K Le Guin, Robin Hobb, Patrick Rothfuss's and so forth. I am also into manga, less so into comics though read the odd one every now and then. In terms of genre, for novels I usually stick to fantasy or science fiction exclusively. Interestingly for manga I pretty much give anything a chance. So yes, from romance (including gay ones), slice-of-life, and dramas, to your hyper-violence, horror etc.

Definitely into computer games, animation (particularly anime), and film. Have an extensive collection of all three. I am primarily interested in story though so have been somewhat off gaming in recent times, though the odd game still comes along, Dishonored for example. Like reading I tend to stick to science fiction and fantasy, though I am much more willing to go beyond in these categories.
The six things I could never do without
My friends, the internet (well I could likely do without it, but it certainly doesn't seem like it), my body (for the moment anyway, you never know what science may bring), my mind, my collection of odds and ends, and the world we live in (I certainly can wish it were better though).
On a typical Friday night I am
Making dinner, playing a game, learning a bit of Japanese, watching a movie, or pretending to study by browsing the internet.

I tend not to go out too much, although will always go for drinks, to a club, or to some other event if invited.
