My name's Andy. I have an art degree from VCU. I do illustration, graphic design, web design, fine art, and I teach painting, as well as working as a contractor on Navy ships.
I think of art as my first language and English as my second. In other words, I find it easier and more natural to communicate with pictures than with words. As I get more funds and space, I envision taking up bigger projects, like those crazy old men you read about in the newspaper who filled their backyard with 30 foot tire sculptures of the Virgin Mary and stuff. Only hopefully I won't go crazy or get old before I can accomplish this.
Though art is my passion, I dig balance and I do enjoy a variety of activities. I'm very fit, though I don't think a lot about fitness. It's just a side effect of my job and being really active.
I really strive to emulate the lifestyles of the great artists and thinkers I admire, who I'm sure never sat around bored or waiting for something to happen. Life is a constant race against time to create, learn, improve, discover, love, laugh, and experience as much as possible before you die.
You can find out a lot more about me (probably more than you'll ever want to know) by checking out the questions I've answered. I seem to be just about the only one on this site who actually gives explanations for each answer.
I have a six year old daughter who does not live with me, but I see her regularly. She is very sweet and very clever.
