My self-summary
4/8/2014:By the way...what is "Near Me" really mean? I mean isn't that subjective?
Thanks for stopping by and visiting my profile. Words are a big part of my career but suddenly I find it a task when having to write about myself. I find myself attracted to gals who are quick-witted and know how to wield sarcasm. The woman in my life will be a priority and treated with respect, kindness and affection. I believe that a relationship is cultivated and am happy to work 110% at it. Gardens grow when given to, and I’m looking for just one gal. My interests are broad, from exploring new music, to food and the outdoors. I’d love to explore this with that someone special. Arts and technology often peak my interest, perhaps you can join me on a trip to Tahoe or expand our horizons to another continent. Maybe Petra, but I could also rent a Winnebago and travel across America. I prefer being light-hearted and objective. My friends say I’m a good listener and offer good advice. I will always appreciate that compliment. We both want a healthy giving relationship and are not looking for perfection. President Lincoln once said, "It has been my experience that folks who have no vices, have very few virtues". I’ll end with Dr. Seuss, When you are in love you can't fall asleep because reality is better than your dreams." If this resonates with you too then I’d love to hear from you and see where these words take us. I am animal friendly, especially to dogs. The film I most identify with? "Super 8". I just picked up a book on the paleo diet and trying to fit more exercise into my daily regiment.
What I’m doing with my life
I work as a Senior Technical Writer for a technology company by day and aspiring screenwriter by night. My former British co-workers got me hooked on watching soccer this summer! I just started reading "The Real Crash" by Peter Schiff the author who predicted the mortgage collapse and am currently reading "Currency Wars." I also enjoy following the Bitcoin movement and expanding my music library.
I’m really good at
Thinking and listening and answering friend's questions. I have been told that I was a good listener...I am currently working on developing a screenplay and have always been interested in the development of film/media development. Identifying patterns and trends.
The first things people usually notice about me
My height? I am tall with wide shoulders. A female friend said I have very "Anglo" looks.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Incomplete - work in progress:

Books (Non-Fiction), Sci-Fi, American and World History - Anything by Arnold Patent - A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose (this reminds me of "A Course in Miracles"..anyone else? Anyone..... Bueller? Ferris Bueller?) - Christine - Logan's Run - A Course in Miracles - Z for Zachariah - The Millionaire Next Door - Bare Branches - Why Geography Matters.

Music: 80s music...ahhh good times. Techno, Classical, soundtracks, Jazz, experimental, some country, a bit of hip-hop (but I can never remember the names! Like that tune from the movie "Tropic Thunder"). I listen to classical or movie soundtracks when I want to daydream or work on a screenplay. My last soundtrack purchases were "Drive" and "World War Z."

Movies/TV: Fringe (TV), -Raising Hope (TV comedy), The Walking Dead (TV) ( I am writing a zombie screenplay), - Dale and Tucker vs Evil (Dark Comedy) A.I. - Ace Ventura: Pet Detective - Bladerunner - director's cut - Damnation Alley - Dr. Strangelove - Evil Dead Series, Batman, Superman (Christopher Reeve, ). Somewhere in Time (saw them film it in Michigan). Anything by Sam Raimi (he is from Michigan as well)English Patient - Equilibrium - Logan's Run - Omega Man - The Rundown - THX-1138 - original and director's cut, The Day of the Dolphin, - Sahara - Soylent Green - District 9 - What the Bleep *@%*$& Do We Know? (documentary/drama) - I like cheesy Sci-Fi, B-movies....can you tell.

Food: I can pretty much eat anything. Ever have jellyfish? Pass on that stuff! Can't stand tequila by itself, only in a mix. A college experience ruined that. I like trying different coffees and I do like green tea as well.

Quotes:

"And now here is my secret, a very simple secret. It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.” The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

"Truth is in the motive. You are what you do, not what you say. Anyone can claim their music is making a political statement. Anyone can believe it. But until a piece of music starts swinging hammers and elections, it hasn't got a beat anyone trying to change this junkyard of a planet can dance to." ~Andrew Vachss

"We sleep safe because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence upon those who would do us harm." - Attributed to R. Kipling, or George Orwell, or W. Churchill

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing’ (or words to that effect)- Edmund Burke

"If you're trying to be politically correct you're like a chameleon in front of a mirror. What can you say that won't be offensive to somebody?" - Robin Williams

"Dare greatly. It is not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbled or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena."- Theodore Roosevelt

“A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have." —Thomas Jefferson

"Morality, like art, means drawing a line someplace." — Oscar Wilde

"Fear is a thief." - Bumper sticker

"You must be the change you want to see in the world." - Mahatma Ghandi
The six things I could never do without
Geez, like I have time to focus on only six???? Didn't you hear that multi-tasking doesn't work! ;-)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Personal improvement, but at the same time reflecting on the present moment...gotta do more living in the moment. How to pack more fun into the present moment....but I have a serious side.
On a typical Friday night I am
I usually head to the gym or might be relaxing in front of my TV with a glass of wine or out at a happy hour with friends having a cold beer after a long week; However, flexibility is the key in every situation.
