I am Nice, Chivalrous, and Humble.

My Self-Summary

I am pretty laid-back, open-minded, easy-going, mature, intelligent, sweet and caring guy. I am also the calm, collected type of person that is stable and wanting to meet normal, civilized people for great life-long friendships or more. I go where life and the wind takes me. My heritage is half Japanese and half Chinese and I was born in Houston, TX. The only language I know fluently is English (sadly enough) and a few words here and there of Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese. In my free time though I like to do what most people do... watch movies, read a book, hang out with friends, play games (all sorts - card, board, video, etc etc.). Most of my info I am taking from myspace at www.myspace.com/jacktan if you have one and want to add me.

What I’m doing with my life

Working and learning

I’m really good at

listening and observing.

The first things people usually notice about me

My smile, my curiosity, and that I am sweet. Physically I guess it'd be the smile that I usually have or my eyes.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Movies: Wall-E, Ironman, Kung Fu Panda, Wanted, Dark Knight, Hancock, Forbidden Kingdom, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Golden Compass, Speed Racer, Horton Hears a Who, Bucket List, Spiderwick Chrnoicles, Penelope, City of Angels, Princess Bride, Contact, Harry Potter series, Lord of the Ring series, Star Wars, Pirates of the Carribean, The Explorers, Disney Movies (Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, etc.), Sleepless in Seattle, It Could Happen to You, It's a Wonderful Life, Legend, Underworld, Interview with a Vampire, Blade, The Craft, A Knight's Tale, Napoleon Dynamite, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Escape to Witch Mountain, The Lost Boys, Superman, Xmen, Spiderman, Meet the Robinsons, Comic book movies, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, P.S. I Love You, Must Love Dogs, Bruce and Lloyed, 10,000 BC, Starship Troopers, and lots lots more...I like all kinds really from comedies, action, sci-fi/fantasy, etc... "Movies are windows that allow us to feel... to cry, laugh, and fear. If you listen, movies help us learn lessons we may otherwise have never learned or learned the hard way. They gives us an opportunity to cry out our own heartaches when no one is watching. Movies help us laugh when it seems as though nothing else could. I love movies." I also feel this way about books, tv, and music... there are just so many things that you could never imagine and experience in your own lifetime...it helps to view things through the perspectives of others.

TV: I don't watch much tv, but I do watch shows online. :) Some that I enjoy include, but aren't limited to: Eureka, Dead Like Me, Who Wants to be a Superhero?, Smallville, The 70's show, Everyone Loves Raymond, Friends, Will and Grace, Babylon 5, Star Trek: TNG, Enterprise, DS9, Voyager, Heroes, Xena, Hercules, Dresden Files, Naruto, Bleach, IGPX, and other anime.

Music: Alternative, Hip Hop, Dance, Techno, Trance, all kinds really. Some favorite groups are Linkin Park, Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne, DJ Mystic, Garbage, Vertical Horizon, Three Doors Down, Creed, Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox 20, and much much more but I usually just listen to the radio (Kiss FM, The Edge, Mix)

Books: Fantasy/Sci Fi, Self-improvement. Harry Potter Series. Glory Lane, One Minute Manager, the Fred Factor

Authors I enjoy: Piers Anthony, Alan Dean Foster, Rick Cook, Christopher Pike, Eoin Colfer

The six things I could never do without

Not sure.... I guess good friends, internet, movies, good food, laughter, love

I spend a lot of time thinking about

life, love, work, and the origins of the universe...? Also I think about if "I will ever find the girl that completes me. yes yes, that sounds rather sappy, but I don't care. :P heck, even I think it's pretty sappy....but I guess everyone has their moments don't they? :) I think about it because I am just not wanting to "just settle". I've dated girls where the relationship is comfortable enough, but it doesn't inspire and excite me the way I think it should so I invariably let it go and move on. Thus, that's why I think about what I think about. :P
Here is a quote from Meet Joe Black which is a movie I enjoy that I think kind of compares the kind of love I'm looking for...:
William Parrish: Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without. If you don't start with that, what are you going to end up with? Fall head over heels. I say find someone you can love like crazy and who'll love you the same way back. And how do you find him? Forget your head and listen to your heart. I'm not hearing any heart. Run the risk, if you get hurt, you'll come back. Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love - well, you haven't lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived."

On a typical Friday night I am

Getting home from work and relaxing or going out with friends and hanging out. Depending on the friend(s) we go out to dinner, watch a movie, or play board/card/video games.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I am human just like anyone else. I have my faults and do have doubts sometimes. I generally hide those things very well and I am learned enough in the realm of presence to do a good job. I'd love to find a girl that can see right through my facade and know when something is wrong because most of the time I will shoulder things on and hide things with a smile until I think up a strategy to talk about what it is that is bothering me. This is not to say I am not a good communicator, I am just respectful of other peoples feelings and I talk about things diplomatically. I have been told that I am "too nice" and "too sweet".

You should message me if

You are intelligent, open-minded, laid-back, down-to-earth, nice, compassionate, and sweet. Also it'd help if we share similar interests. However, I am always wanting to make great friends and should something more ever come out of it then stellar, but I'm not going to hold my breath. :P
