My self-summary
I'm quite nerdy and eccentric. I revel in being unusual and unique, and admire such qualities in others. I'm energetic, love to be active, and I've been described as driven, insightful, and adorable. I am extremely fond of face-to-face contact as opposed to purely online interaction. Conversations and actually hanging out are so much more fun, anyways.

Random facts about me!
-I'm loyal and dedicated; I am fiercely protective of those important to me.
-I love cooking and find it very relaxing, but hate to cook alone or just for myself. I'm often looking for other people to cook with.
-I like to go shopping while wearing my cloak, boots, or bracers.
-People frequently describe me as kitten-esque: scratch me behind the ears and I'll purr.
-I love going on random adventures, especially those that involve being in the great outdoors. Speaking of which, I'm a huge fan of chlorophyll-enhanced ambient conditions.
-My abode has many plants, indoors and out, and I frequently spend spare time sitting on my roof in the shade of a large pine tree, drawing, reading, or just enjoying the fresh air.
-I also know a location for perhaps the most archetypal, sappy, straight-out-of-a-romance-novel picnic. It involves a lone tree in the middle of an open field in a valley that is aligned with the setting sun.
-My favorite word (and life motto) is "Shenaniganery".
What I’m doing with my life
Responsible Adult-like Things
I work as a researcher at a food science startup in Menlo Park, where we seek to create delicious foods while minimizing our environmental impact. I spend most of my day fiddling with protein chemistry and cooking delicious things, but on occasion I will be out in the fields harvesting plants or up on one of our refrigerators repairing the compressor, or stomping around the lab in massive spiked leather boots, because why not.

I moonlight as a theater tech for community theater, specializing in lights. I currently work with the Stanford Savoyards (light op, assistant lighting designer, build crew), West Bay Opera (light op, deck crew), and Palo Alto Players (light op).

As for hobbies, there are the outdoorsy, the creative, and the nerdy.

Outdoorsy
I love hiking and spending time in the fresh air! I spend a large amount of my free daylight ours tending to my garden, biking out in the Baylands, or lounging outside doing something creative. More recently, I found myself in the possession of an absolutely gorgeous Irish hand-and-a-half sword, so I've been learning how to properly use and care for it. Much to my chagrin, it rejected the name "Colonel Bitey Face".

Creative
I like to draw, mostly with pencil though I'll sometimes use charcoal or digital media. I'm not excellent, but I'd be quite happy to draw a personal portrait for someone. I also like making jewelry. To date, my favorite piece has been a steampunk amulet that I made for a friend who is very much in love with Myst.

Nerdy
I am a social gamer. My poisons of choice are League of Legends, D&D 4e, D&D 3.5, and Dominion. I also enjoy going to conventions and LARPing, though this is a relatively recent addition to my life. Yes, I do cosplay. Lastly, I'm working on developing a personal library worthy of the legacy of the D'ni.
I’m really good at
I would best be described as a generalist. I'm not super-good at any one particular thing, but I am kinda-good at a reasonably large number of things and pick up new skills quickly. This lends itself well to things like theater tech and startup science companies.

I have to say though that I especially enjoy repairing equipment. It's not uncommon to find me tinkering with the hardware at work, attempting to optimize it for whatever abuse I want to put it through.
The first things people usually notice about me
I look like I'm 16 (maybe it's finally up to 18 now? Ehehehe...) Either that or my eyelashes, which are long enough to cause random passers by to ask if I wear mascara or eyeliner. P.S. I don't. Well, except for that one time.... That was a crazy party.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books:
My all time favorites would be the Myst books. I love reading primarily because of the worlds that books evoke, and nothing does that better than Myst. I mean, come on, it's a whole world based around the creation of worlds... in books! Other than that, Terry Pratchett is one of my favorite authors. I love SciFi, Fantasy, and more.

Movies:
Serenity, British comedy (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Monty Python and the Holy Grail), The Italian Job (both old and new), Repo: The Genetic Opera, Ghost in the Shell, Despicable Me, Megamind, Wreck-it Ralph (way to punch me in the nostalgia)

Music:
I've noticed that I'm drawn to classical instruments used in creative ways, most notably Lindsey Stirling. As for genres: Folk metal, symphonic rock, Celtic, electronic. Some specific groups I enjoy (this list is not all-inclusive and is in no particular order): Within Temptation, Apocalyptica, Zircon, The Magnetic Fields, The Glitch Mob, Loreena McKennit, Sleepthief.

Shows:
You can see theater shows from the audience? Whooooaaaahhhh.
...oh wait, you meant TV shows? Well, I'm a total sucker for Firefly, Dr. Who, Castle, and Futurama. I also love Star Trek: TNG. Patrick Stewart is one of my heroes.

Food:
Thai, Indian, Middle Eastern, French, Carribean, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Korean... Um... I just really like high-quality food in general. It is a life goal to master cooking most of the world's various cuisines. I'm currently working on mastering Indian food.
The six things I could never do without
-Friends and family
-Books!
-Food/delicious things
-Open spaces replete with greenery
-The night sky
-My senses
On a typical Friday night I am
Engaging in culinary voodoo magic or going out for ice cream. Perhaps playing laser tag or engaged in swordplay. On special occasions, I'll bring speakers and a picnic for a midnight picnic on the Stanford main Quad.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I will respond to the name, "Mouse". I earned this nickname because I sometimes squeak like one. I've also reportedly been referred to as "an anime mecha with lasers".

You should message me if
You, like me, require face-to-face interaction with someone in order to get a good sense of who they are. You like adventures of high-shtick, over the top, ridiculous variety that frequently end in uncontrollable laughter. You're adept in the kitchen, or at the very least know why metal and microwaves don't mix. You like your guys geeky and/or nerdy. The thought of "Classy Dinner Wednesday" appeals to you. You will waltz (or other dance form) to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pU-OO3V2d50

Or you're amused at the fact that I got to legitimately write the words "reinforced against raptor attack" in a grant application. It ended up being approved.
